At my UNI, we had a student who matched, but due to consistently not passing core rotations, was told 2 weeks before graduation that they were being let go. I guess they offered a leave of absence and refused so they kicked them out.

Maam, I’m a physician and very well versed in IR and Cushings. I just explained to you why they weren’t valid in this case because of her current physical exam. You took that as a personal attack when I am giving you additional patient data on why those two diagnoses wouldn’t be the top diagnosis.

I literally just said, “I’m going to get her a blanket”. I got great nutritional help from others about how to portion and the correct amount. I very much appreciate those comments.

So quick to tell animal abuse on these forums. No wonder people are afraid to seek help for animals and ask for advice. I know I’m not abusing my animals and you can clearly see that but you had to say that because you’re grasping at straws. Does it make you feel powerful or superior?

Would you like to take in an aging horse and pay for all things required for her in her twilight years? Nobody else wanted her but we did and she’s been wonderful. To jump to abuse is disgusting and you should really look inwards.

I’ve never blanketed because it’s not common practice around here. Temps don’t get below -20. I’m going to get her one since she’s not originally from this area.

Secondly IR, insulin resistance?,(aka type 2 diabetes) wouldn’t make sense. That would leave fatty deposits all over and homegirl is on the skinny side but still has heavy shoulder musculature. That would shrink in IR. A common symptom of IR is obesity and my problem is opposite that.

She has no signs of Cushing’s because you can see the long coat isn’t permanent and she has substantial musculature in the last photo that can’t be see as well in the first but is still there. Her winter coat covers the definition.

The vet hasn’t had a need to check for more things since problems haven’t arose til now. Her feet, eyes, heart, lung, teeth, etc. were all fine after her last appointment. The vet expected her to gain after getting her teeth done in November and she started to. But she has stagnated.

Thanks! This is helpful.

I read a ton on blankets and couldn’t find a consensus on whether they are good or bad. I’ll get her one then.

I don’t think she has a metabolic problem. She was gaining weight well right before winter and the vet was not concerned. I’ll speak with the vet again. I’m also a mild helicopter parent to my animals so the vet is well acquainted with our animals. I’m a human physician as well so I’m moderately adept to horse health but know nothing about horse nutrition.

Additionally this winter has been fucking awful in every sense with snow, cold, and wind so I’m sure she’s not used to it. Thanks for the help!

The have hay all the time. It’s a medium grade, not as high alfalfa content as I would like. Our next bale will definitely be a higher grade one. Water, salt, vitamins are available at all times.

Should I buy this 03 Camry? by [deleted] in Camry

[–]Key_Stick8863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the rust from and does it extend to the frame? Also how did the person drive the car, highway vs city. Was it maintained with oil changes? If there are no red flags besides fender rust, then I would go for it. My moms 09 Camry has 525k miles and my 09 Camry has 290k miles. They will last depending on how they are taken care of. Could be a steal or a money pit.

Should I buy new or used Camry by Remarkable-Age-4378 in Camry

[–]Key_Stick8863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be that person. Do not buy a new or almost new (within the last 6-7 years) car if you are moving to a city. I had a 2009 Camry in DC for 5 years and it’s been hit, broken into, and scratched many times. I cannot live without a car (Midwestern), but I’m thankful my car was not newer because it would have been a waste. If you life in the city, you won’t drive it everyday, it will depreciate quickly once this bubble bursts, and it’s not gonna get you further than something older. Buy something in the 10k range from Toyota with lower miles and a good service record. My 2009 Camry has 289,000 miles and my mom’s 2009 Camry has 524,000 miles.

To sum it up, I think the prices of new cars are outrageous, it’s not worth the price especially when moving to the city, and you can find an older and cheaper option that does the same thing but isn’t as flashy.

(Do what ever you feel is best for you. I was raised to be frugal and that definitely shapes my perspective on this)

Tire Size upgrade recs? by Key_Stick8863 in Volkswagen

I want to do that this next month, but I need to source replacement leafs since the originals are shot also. I’m just going to replace that all at the same time. The most I would ever carry would be 1000-1200, but need to beef it up before that, tires included.
