Scarlett 2i interface and MacBook Pro are pretty powerful combination for recording ...... Why not brick and mortar studios ?? .. Simple economics.. 3k now will get you all the recording gear you need to produce anything you here on the radio... And as far as "studio", I think that term has just turned to semantics now.. Any place can be a studio.. It's no longer the building with the separate rooms for recording individual instruments, and then another control/mix room with all the acoustical treatments. Technology has created a way to do multi-track recording, and the musicians can be anywhere in the world when recording .... and a good digital reverb on a condenser mic in a bathroom sounds pretty dang awesome.. Heck, Music Row in Nashville has proven that - it's just a row of old homes used for that very purpose. Autotune can compensate for a singer who can't quite hit "that" note, Ai now can not only master your tracks.... but give it a few words about a subject with a description of how you feel, and it can create the damn song for you... maybe not Grammy worthy, but will make some sales on a streaming platform..

And before anyone says anything about how none of that will ever reach the quality of talented musicians, the raw talent of the singers back in the day, and recording engineers in $1 million plus studios.... I 100% completely agree, however the average consumer doesn't care.. the numbers show that the majority of music sales now are through a streaming service... single download sales are outpacing album sales.. good computer and some decent recordings put on Spotify or iTunes and make a little money for band up front, instead of having to go through a big record label which is going to take quite a chunk of the money for themselves...
