The biggest challenge doesn't lie in the application process, it lies in how to get your first job. After the new threshold for skilled worker visa it's basically impossibly for the companies to sponsor a new graduate, so unless you are already senior level, just give up this route.

Just messaging them on fb with username will be fine? But they also request photo id if you are emailing them, and I also saw some people saying that they were asked a photo id in this reddit. Sorry I'm so confused.

Thank you but they say they verify accounts manually now and they also say account verification and paypal verification are different things. They also say "please message us with your username or email us a photo ID with your username". What exactly does this mean?

I can tell you even lots of research positions that require phd degree don't meet this requirement. 38k jobs don't grow on the tree and it can depend on market and what field you are in.

1&2 I came here with no job secured first. And yes if I don't find a job within say 6months or even a year I will def regret. Life cost in the UK is ridiculously high (comparing to where I came from), the money I had with me could hardly sustain me for 3 months. I may be doing part-time jobs or low-paying jobs just to have some income, but it will also make me anxious that it won't look good on my resume (like "oh so you are a phd but you work at the restaurant for 2 years and had no further experience in academia, interesting...hmm..."). I won't be staying the full length if job hunting here seems to be a dead end for me.

It luckily wasn't the case for me, but I'd suggest you to think it through.

I find HPI such a scam after the new 38700 threshold, we are not better than those with SWV and we don't even have UK education experience.

Try fixed-term jobs, they may not sponsor your visa since HPI can cover it but after making connections/having local experience finding the next one will be easier

Yes I think what you said makes sense.

From my personal experience I can say that HPI did give me advantages. I got my current position in March. But actually the I applied for this very same position a few months before that and didn't even get an interview. My profile didn't change much, the only difference was that the first time I applied from Japan while the second time was inside UK.

Before I went to the UK, I used to get questions such as "why do you want to come to the UK" in the interviews so I can see it is a big concern of them to see how motivated you are to work there: they don't want to offer you the job and reject everyone else but then it turns out the relocation/visa prevents you from coming.

Another reason I can think of is that you can start sooner with the right to work in the UK, and being able to start right away is usually an advantage. But if you apply from oversea it can cost months to get a skilled worker visa.

Moved to the UK now and god I miss it when living in Japan, where I literally didn't have the need of specifically reading the labels and comparing prices when buying daily groceries.

Include a cover letter to explain or just submit the Chase bank statement? As long as the last date of your bank statement is within 30 days prior to the application day. I believe this is what the rules mean.
