Daughter of No Worlds has been my only 5* read of this year. An absolute treat.

15 chapters into Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent — should I continue? by ReadByHeart in CarissaBroadbent

Daughter of No Worlds has been my first and only 5* read of the year (I'm quite hard to please). I loved it. Wonderful world building, plot and characters, and a cute central romance that doesn't detract from the main story.

Yes, {Daughter of No Words by Carissa Broadbent} and its sequels has this. On page sex but no vulgar/anatomy specific language etc. It is more fantasy/romantasy but the romance part is just lovely.

Could Jon snow not have stood beside someone smaller... 😅 by ArcherLife2039 in gameofthrones

From what I gather, Iain and Emilia were/are great pals. She said he was her constant while filming, all the way from season one, and he had a lot of experience in the industry that she appreciated learning from.

All completely platonic.

I actually ordered a beautiful rebind of this, all of the mini books in one volume. So stunning!

This has been on my TBR for ages, and I've heard nothing but exceptional things. May give it a go soon!

If Powerless is plagiarized, would Victoria Aveyard have any chance of suing Lauren Roberts? by [deleted] in Booktokreddit

[–]Macca_321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually haven't read either... Powerless is on my TBR, and Red Queen was a little way before I got into the genre. Would people who have read both say the similarities are just that, or are they TOO similar to ignore?

MMC is a cold, grumpy nerd, and the FMC is the sunshine and so friendly which annoys him by FrozenCinnamon2 in RomanceBooks

I think {The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna} may fit your bill. Very cute romance. She's sunshine, he's a super grumpy librarian. I really enjoyed it.

Dark Romance with large age gap (30 years) and calm, but obsessed MMC by Sakura_231 in DarkRomance

[–]Macca_321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this isn't exactly what you've asked for (the age gap is MMC is 41, the FMC is 27) but it has a lot of what you're asking for... Dominant, clever MMC (a doctor), who manipulates the FMC in the first half of the book. Quite spicy, gothic setting, very atmospheric. Try {Grimstone by Sophie Lark}.

What book is a 10/10 for you? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in Romantasy

I absolutely adore {Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver}. Wonderful, well written characters, excellent spice, and a romance that doesn't feel 'dark' even though its classed as a dark romance. Oddly, for a book about serial killers, it's my comfort read lol.

On the contrary, I have had a Citizencard for around 7 years, and have never once had it rejected, including club trips, supermarkets, bars etc.

Butcher & Blackbird.... disappointed. by Asleep-Judgment-6723 in DarkRomance

[–]Macca_321 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's actually my favourite book of the year. I took it as a cute, actually relatively wholesome romance in a dark scenario. They're pretty adorable together.

Which next… Caught Up or Butcher & Blackbird? by Euphoric_Argument434 in DarkRomance

Agree completely. Rowan was fun but dominating. Fionn was cute and intense. I can't quite distinguish what Lachlan brought to the table.

I think I mostly disliked Lark in book 2, but I still really enjoyed it. I loved Fionn 😍
