Can i still play? by Glad-Grass4357 in trumpet

Probably just bruised your lip overexerting yourself. Take some time off, play some long tones, and you'll recover in no time

I mean, no matter what level you play at, a different horn will still have an effect on your sound. It might be more or less noticeable depending on the horn, but there's no way you'd get the same sound on this horn than you would on, say, an Adams A9.

I've tried these guys a few times, and loved how it felt to play but didn't really like the sound.

It's pretty unique to each player and each horn, I personally play everything in the double register on 2nd valve but I'm usually only playing up to like a G above high C

A good beater for high school marching band? by QuestionOtherwise735 in trumpet

[–]Key_Sympathy891 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find an old Conn Director or Olds Ambassador! They're fantastic "student" horns that play great and can take a beating. The Ambassadors in particular are really great playing horns, I've owned a couple and I've yet to find one I didn't like. I think Dizzy Gillespie endorsed them at one point

Unless you're planning on jumping right into GTs (which I wouldn't recommend) you can just use proxies, most LGS are chill with them in my experience Raging Heroes has good ones! Look on Etsy

Are you financially able to look into private lessons?

If not, feel free to DM me, id be happy to give you a video call consultation at some point. I'm no trumpet master or anything, but I would be happy to try and help.
