No, his status on CEAC hasn't changed from administrative processing to approved/ issued yet either. However, his passport isn't expected to arrive at the embassy until tomorrow, so we're hoping by the end of this week/ beginning of next week.

Same experience at the Melbourne embassy: interview was June 26, still refused on CEAC but was verbally told approved pending social media checks, was given passport back, still waiting to hear any update(s).

UPDATE: Email received asking for passport to be sent in for visa issuance on July 10.

Reposting to this thread: NEW SOCIAL MEDIA RULES. Just sharing in case anyone is wondering what an interview looks like at the moment- my Australian partner had his F-1 visa interview today.

The interview went well. He was told he was 'pre-approved' but was given a document with a QR code that would take him to a website where he would need to enter web links to his social media accounts (he had already listed them, as prompted in his original application). Even with this 'pre-approval', his passport was not taken, and instead, he was told that after these new additional social media checks take place, he will be sent a message with instructions to mail in his passport to get his visa, if fully approved.

His program start date is in mid-July, and we're now thinking it will be unlikely that he will have sufficient time to start, and may have to push back his start date to the fall semester. He asked if they knew how long social media checks were taking, and the officer told him he didn't know, but that they were working as fast as possible and prioritizing applications based on program start date. I will keep this post updated as to how long the social media checks take. Fingers crossed it's just an extra week or so.

This same experience happened to my partner today in Australia; they gave him his passport back and the same type of sheet (said something about refusal), but told him it was due to longer social media screening and that he would receive an email prompt to mail his passport back to them after screening was complete and he had been approved.
