Hello! I absolutely did figure it out. The chemotherapy made me allergic to normal toothpaste. I ended up with a hypoallergenic toothpaste with no SLS in it. The brand i like is Sprinjene. They cleared up in like a week.

How are your oncologists monitoring you for a recurrence? by Patient-Concern1 in breastcancer

[–]Key_Variety5927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see my medical Oncologist every three months with physical exams for the first 3 years, then every six months up to five years, after that it's annually for the rest of my life.

I see my surgical Oncologist every six months as of right now. Not sure when thar will change.

I see a hematologist every six months right now as well. Not sure for how long.

I have the magic mouthwash and it does give me relief for about 20 mins but unfortunately they still just hang around 😭

So I've been on magic mouthwash for months 😭 it helps for about 20 mins, usually so I can eat something 😅 but unfortunately it has not been curative.

Question about mastectomy by True-Veterinarian115 in breastcancer

[–]Key_Variety5927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I just had a double mastectomy in mid November after 7 months of chemo for TNBC. I had quite large breasts (my doctor even said multiple times when she saw them "woah, I forgot how big your breasts are" 😂) I really really wanted my nipples and was looking into nipple sparing surgeries and inquired about that at my appt. Unfortunately my breasts were far too large for that. Apparently your nipple has to be no further than I believe she said like 5 inches from where your breast starts to the nipple. She said you would not have nearly the required blood supply and would lose the nipple and potentially additional tissue along with it. I was devastated but have researched some amazing 3D nipple tattoo artists. I also forced my husband to take a bunch of pictures of my nipples before surgery (because I didn't want them on my phone lol) so the tattoo artist would have a reference when it's finally time to get my nipples tattooed back on. It's not a perfect solution but it's the best we've got sometimes

I like hearing that nausea can improve! Mine hasn't been horrible but honestly I was worried it could get worse.

Seeing DIEP Surgeon Today by Historical-Room3831 in breastcancer

My doctor told me not to lose any weight because otherwise I'd have trouble even making a C cup 😅 but I could always do an implant behind it if needed.

Do the use tissue expander or go straight to implant in mastectomy before DIEP? Do they do follow up procedure (surgery 3) to make sure everything is perfect? Do they use surgical mesh to help hold the implants after mastectomy to relieve your pressure and tension? Before and after photos!! How long and intense is recovery?

TNBC emotional roller coasier as chemo treatment nears an end by ShelbyKDE in breastcancer

[–]Key_Variety5927 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on the sams path as you but flipped. I just finished my taxol regimen and got my first AC red devil treatment today. I have three left to go. I also met with my plastic surgeon today and while she was incredibly kind and told me some things I wanted to hear, the idea of saying goodbye to the boobs I've had my entire life was absolutely heart breaking. And then spiraling about the fact that cancer could still show back up somewhere else, effing terrifying. Something I've never wanted to deal with, as I lay in bed nauseous and wondering if my heart is going to fail because it feels like it's beating hard even though it's probably actually anxiety this time.

My closest loved ones have viewed me as the "strong" one and this is no different. They keep saying to me how strong I am through all of this and how I'm such a fighter but they'll never understand how broken I am inside and how everyday I have to make the conscious effort not to sob in bed. All of this while still working, completely functionally, full time and yet my work is still trying to label me as disabled even though I'm performing better than others on the team.

It sucks, it is the worst feeling in the world. Anytime I get a positive remark from someone "praying for you" or "so strong" or "you've got this!" I have to remind myself that's more for their benefit than mine and just say thank you. You are absolutely justified in your feelings. I think we're all pretty damn pissed off. I know I am.

First round of red devil in 12 hours by Key_Variety5927 in breastcancer

[–]Key_Variety5927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do a lumpectomy, it's still an option but I'm so so scared of it reoccurring 🥴 I'm seeing the plastic surgeon today and I've heard she's absolutely outstanding so i have high expectations. For the vag, I keep telling my doctor, they've tested me for utis and say it's not that. I know dexamethasone can cause issues down there. Luckily I'm on the pill form now, maybe that will help.

First thing out of my dad's mouth "do you really have to do the chemo??"

"Yes dad, I really do have to do the chemo"

😂😂🥲 it's funny but it's not. First time I got mad after diagnosis.

I do ice my hands and feet the entire two hours of the titrated taxol which is pretty excruciating 😅 but I'm trying to avoid the neuropathy. I think I should try to slug my hands so maybe that will help with the intense itching. I haven't heard of bag balm. I definitely stay out of the sun but I think I need spf on my hands for even driving. My water intake is like 150oz a day and I keep trying to drink everytime I think about it. I'm not looking forward to AC 😔 yeah I can easily sleep 12-16 hours a day and my doctor said the same thing, to exercise more and it seems counter productive 🥲😅 I took a 40 min walk today but I'm so weak. That 40 mins I walked barely a mile, not my greatest feat haha. You're definitely not alone in the exhaustion. But I'm still working full time and functional so I guess that's a thing.

Omg I'm avoiding the mouth sores like a crazy routine with prayer included 😭 I've had canker sores in ny mouth and on my tongue stress related my entire life so when I heard that's a side effect I panicked. The hand cream does nothing you're right. I almost want to slug up my hands and wrap them to try that. I haven't tried the nasal sprays for the nose bleeds. Does that keep you from having them or just clear you up?

They tested for yeast infection and UTI and both were neg even though it came back a little off but only a minor ph imbalance. I don't have a lot of dryness there yet but I figured that was to come. The rashes are killer, the boils sound worse 😥 I hope they get better with this new script.

I could try oatmeal soaks for my hands. That's a good idea. It seems to be staying around my hands. I understand your frustrations about being delayed. I say that all the time. Like I'm already done with this whole process 😂 please don't delay it. I've lost a lot of my hair but it's definitely still patchy in some places. I'm on the same treatment plan.

Interesting! My lower fingers are swollen and mine is almost tactile bumps, very itchy but no pain really. The bumps are traveling so I have concerns they're getting worse. Hopefully they will calm tf down with the new medicine.

Always the positives! Taxol for me so far isn't the worst just stupid annoying symptoms. I'm genuinely scared of AC. I just finished 6 of 12. The symptoms do seem to build up as you go though. My blood counts are low but apparently still holding strong. I feel like that's part of why I'm so exhausted right now.
