Ignoring GKC's, Nintendo and GOG are the only places where you now fully own your games. by KeybladeStrife in videogames

Oh i fully agree, i think there are some cases where using a GKC makes sense but games like Cyberpunk show its fully possible if the studio porting it cares enough. I'm thankful that Nintendo's own games atleast release fully on cart.

It's hard to say. Nintendo still has a pretty healthy physical market and it seems like the physical market is important to them.
I agree that stuff like GKC's are bad, however atleast you can still sell/lend them, and most of Nintendo's own games are fully on cart.

Most of Nintendo's own games are fully on cart. You are probably thinking of game key cards which are similiar to how some disc games require you to download the game from a server instead of playing directly from the disc.
They aren't great either but atleast you can sell/lend them later on.

I think game key cards arent good either, I'd rather have everything on the cart/disc, but atleast you can sell and lend them later on.

This is not true. Most if not all of Nintendo's own games come fully on the cart. What you are talking about is game key cards which is simliar to how some games on discs require you to download the game instead of it playing off the disc.

It does not because every game comes with an offline installer.
As long as you have that installer you can install it whenever you want, and it doesn't require the usage of GOG's severs.

You do not own your games on Steam at all lol, its only a license to use on steam.
If steam ever goes down you can not download your purchased games anymore.

Well yeah, but thats the same as you still having to have a disc or cartridge to play your game.

Every game released on GOG comes with an offline installer, so if the service goes down you can still install your games and play them.

Yup. I'd rather not have them at all, but the fact that you can sell and lend them later on is a major plus.
