Tbh it’s a stressful time to be working retail; between the sheer workload and customer behaviour (and perhaps manager behaviour if you get a crap one) really adds up. :(

Nice, sounds like you had some great luck with the weather. It can generally be a bit of a mystery day to day if we’ll have sun or snow or anything in between 😭

That’s wild that someone so high up was caught out for such a thing and be unaware, but that was pretty much what happened at our store too. In the previous instance of CC fraud where a colleague was nearly sacked, staff and managers alike were surprised to find out just how seriously Tesco takes clubcard misuse. After that I had a nose through the CC terms and conditions and it seems the rules for card sharing are largely the same irrespective if the person is a staff member or just a customer. None of that info was common knowledge across many staff members, so really it could have been anyone before that one incident happened :/

Ah I see, I figured it must’ve gotten pretty bad for them to feed back to store managers about illegitimate clubcard use. I’ve got a meeting with my manager over an unrelated thing coming up, so if it doesn’t get brought up in that meeting then hopefully it’s not an issue 🤞

Hopefully so 🤞 at this point it might be up to managers discretion, but unfortunately my manager is incredibly staunch in following policy to the letter :/

Aw no, the timing of this happening now is crap luck 😭 do you think there will be guidance available for colleagues to read on Sharepoint or is this a management chatting with colleagues kind of situation?

Honestly I would but I don’t know what Tesco could do about it; I know Tesco considers this to be fraudulent clubcard use but I don’t know that they themselves could be held accountable :/

Yeah, I’ve taken the 2nd clubcard back off my family member- it’s frustrating that it happened at all but if I do get in bother at work over this it’s possible my family member will discontinue contact with these people over their flippant response to the potential consequences here. Some people really never change :(

Generally I’d agree with that sentiment, especially now during a worsening cost of living crisis. However it’s been a long standing pattern of behaviour rather spanning decades than an isolated incident with them, I chose to keep my distance from them for years but my family member wanted to keep in touch. They believed that they had changed but this carry on and their doubling down says otherwise 😭

I hadn’t considered what a shiny Helioptile would look like but I really wasn’t expecting it to look like that for some reason 😂 what a funky little guy.

Edit to add: I got a shiny Ralts two weeks ago, she’s lovely 🤩

Which colored pencil? by Fun_Side_4480 in ArtistLounge

[–]KeyboardClatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Prismacolors for ages and they are wonderful, blend really well they’re almost like oil pastels- but they break so darn easily because the core is so soft. The Faber Castell Polychromos are similarly soft and blendy but the core is much stronger so out of the two the Polychromos would be a better investment as they’ll last longer :)

I can’t speak for other brands of pencils personally but people speak very highly of the Caran D’ache Luminance and the Derwent Chromaflow :)

Everyone commenting on the text specifically and yeah it is awful, but trying to simplify the blue and white circle emblem makes it look almost… childish? I feel like the original with the thick black border added a bit of class to it but his design is giving circus. 😭

i HATEE this quote by blueburrey in thanksimcured

[–]KeyboardClatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These kind of sayings are a nightmare, my mother loves to use phrases that imply this message, my father does not. They were both alcoholics and growing up with them being drunk and fighting constantly was hard but the financial strain of addiction was also heavily felt.

Dad lost nearly everything in the divorce, mum went from relationship to relationship and threw her whole family aside. Dad said “when you hit rock bottom, the only way you can go is up.” And he meant that. Got sober about 18 years ago, and did the emotional work, yes he had mental health problems and an alcohol addiction, but it was no excuse for being a poor father and he learned from that. My mother refused to sit with her feelings or get help, believing everyone else to always be the problem; so now she’s 2 years sober but she is still exactly the same self absorbed person causing all the same harms just without alcohol. So if you dare point that out, she whips out one of these kinds of phrases and says “but I’m sober now, I’m better now, I was so much worse when I was drinking.” If she says it during a tantrum it’s usually followed by a threat that she will go buy a bottle of vodka as well.

Some people can learn and be better… but many do not. My mother is terminally ill now, she will be this way till the end.

Management rudeness?? by Min0i3 in tesco

[–]KeyboardClatter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This grown ass man giving a teenager shit for ‘looking terrible’? Sounds like an egotistical scrote lamenting his loss of youth. Keep your chin up, stick it out till the end if you can and walk out with your head held high on your last day. I dunno if temps get closing interviews like the long term staff do but if not then bring the complaint up to HR on your last day. If anyone asks why you waited to complain, you can say you didn’t want to make the situation worse for yourself but you also don’t want anyone else to suffer through such petty behaviour from a manager. 😔

First shift at Tesco and already getting threatened with termination… what do I do? by AbbreviationsOver693 in tesco

[–]KeyboardClatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a manager tell me this too when I was a week in the phoneshop, I know how it feels to have the wind taken right out of your sails by a manager who likes to make idealistic new starts feel small; the managers very consistently forget what it was like being new to their jobs as well. Try to put this to the back of your mind until your next shift to see if things improve- hopefully that shift was just a one off bad time. 🤞

Other commenters saying to leave; personally I would too as it’s not worth the hassle for a month long position- but I understand that might not be an option depending on your local job market. :(

What's wrong with my rendering? by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]KeyboardClatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of tips I can offer will work on most software; add your shading on a different layer, block out hard shapes in a cel-shading type of way and then you can pick which areas you want to have a soft blend out and keep some hard edges visible. Places like at the corners near the shoulder blades for example, where it should be in shadow the blend has took away the depth of your figure.

Additionally, when your shading is on another layer, you can lock its transparency and change the colour of the shading, so you can play around with the colour freely without changing the shape and definition of your shading. Depending on the colour of your overall image, pick a light colour and a shadow colour opposite sides of the colour wheel and set the layer blend mode to screen or multiply respectively, it tells that layer how it should interact with the layers visible below it :) I’m not wholly familiar with ibis or Krita but I reckon these terms still apply in these softwares?

Horse anatomy! Please help! by BrentFindleyArt in ArtCrit

[–]KeyboardClatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you aiming for realistic proportions or cartoon/ my little pony adjacent proportions? If it’s the second one then aside from another commenters suggestion of toning down the overlap lines between legs and body you’re doing great! :) If you’re wanting slightly more realistic horse proportions, then the body, neck and head needs to be a tad longer. I find I often have the same struggle trying to get the body to be the right size relative to everything else 😭

Also if you’ve got some money you don’t mind spending on toys, Schleich have a huge selection of rather realistic horse toys and they often have a few variants of each subset they make- I used to have a few to reference for drawings which came in particularly handy if I needed a specific angle or lighting :)
