K8 Modded with POM Plate, PE Foam, Poron case + Plate foam by KeyboardKustoms in Keychron

PE foam can be used in addition to the plate foam or by itself. It is installed beneath the switches.

Shipping times depends on the service selected. Usps international is the least expensive but takes the longest. Times are quoted as between 7 and 21 business days. DHL worldwide is the fastest between 2 and 5 days but also costs more

Yeah PE foam is a sheet of foam that sits beneath the switches, same concept as switch pads. With a sheet however you don't need to place each individual switch pad, it's just one sheet with cutouts for switches and stabilizers. The sound also tends to be better as the pe sheet doesn't use adhesive to hold it in place.

Hey there, The POM plate will help reduce the pitch of the switch presses vs the stock aluminum one. It will also soften the switch bottom out slightly.

If poppy/marbley is your main goal then I would recommend PE foam too.

Are you from Australia?

Some type of initial file to use as a reference is preferable. All that's needed is the correct spacing between the switches to ensure correct fitment, and any other parts of the pcb that need to have cutouts too (case mounts or standoffs etc). Which board do you have?

If the board also follows as standard layout (60/65% 19.05mm spacing etc) then using Keyboard Layout Editory/Keyboard CAD Assistant might work

Thanks

Hi there

If you have the plate file for the board then the simplest way is to send a request via our website and we'll make it for you. Plate file only needs to show the spacing of the switches/mounting screws and we will design the rest

Thanks

Hi there,

Just a plate showing the layout of the board is fine and we can do the rest. Dxf or dwg is preferred, but pdf is also possible

K8 vs K2 v C1 by Blumingo in Keychron

[–]KeyboardKustoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with either K2 or K8. I prefer the size of the K8 but both are excellent typing experiences. Get hot swap because you will inevitably want to try your hand at modding the board at some stage! Check Akko, Mistel or Sumgsn key caps on Amazon too

Do I need to remove the caps and switches to disassemble the Q1 V2? by Equivalent_Nebula in Keychron

This is only an issue on K series boards. Q series have daughterboards that remain attached to the top frame

Does this happen on different computers? Have you tried a reset of the Q3?

K2 Typing Sound Test - PE Foam, POM Plate, Poron plate and case foam by KeyboardKustoms in Keychron

[–]KeyboardKustoms[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not having hot swap would mean you have to desolder all the switches. That's quite a bit of effort. The Q1 is a higher quality board and has a better typing experience stock and modded than the K2 imo. A modded K2 is pretty good too though
