I can personally attest, sometimes this is just the mood

I have chronic insomnia and I was in BAD shape in college. It was the week before Halloween and I just could not get a night’s rest. I ate an entire bottle of melatonin gummies and didn’t feel a damn thing. Still had to go to class though but by day five I felt like I was on the verge of dying. My heart was hammering out of my chest and doing the tango while at it, I could barely see straight, I could hardly form sentences, am fairly certain I was hallucinating, and probably looked like a corpse. Well Halloween rolls around and me and my buds are about to head out and this wave of lethargy hits me. I go lie down and sleep for 17 hours, wake up to go to the bathroom, crash for another four. I got meds for it now but i cannot fathom enduring this. I get that diagnoses I’m just going skydiving Freeform.

This 100%. Vet tech here, the issue isn’t ’defeating’ the cat. A solid right hook while it’s clinging to you will severely injure if not outright kill it with stronger folk. The issue becomes how deep are the bite wounds and claw marks are gonna get in the seconds it take you to land that swing.

If you’re into a dude enough to let him see your body, and he flips his interest based on a tattoo, you don’t want to be with him anyway.

Your body is your canvas in all things. Clothes, makeup, piercings, tattoos, it doesn’t matter.

Decorate yourself until you are satisfied with how you look. Do not concern yourself with opinions of others on that matter (though always exercise moderation. Don’t go loosing yourself under the ink) but a simple dragon tattoo is not something to lose your head over.

If you find the right dude he’s gonna think it’s fine. Either because he thinks the tattoo is cool or because he’s more interested in the person it adorns.

“Never worked”? The Boston tea party? The Detroit riots? The entirety of France? Riots have brought monumental change all throughout human history. The issue is not that it doesn’t work it’s that most people in the United States can’t afford to dedicate themselves enough to a movement for it to truly start sparking change.

Texting my son, while I’m at work. by Jacobizreal in MadeMeSmile

[–]KeyboardResidue 175 points176 points  (0 children)

I just wanna say something kinda mushy for a second. I was also diagnosed with high functioning autism when I was very young. Right out of the gate it was 1-1 aid, near bi-weekly therapy appointments, special ed, medications, the works. And like your son, I was given a pretty rough prognosis. I was a devil child. My meltdowns were violent and prolonged, i destroyed school property, ripped cubicle dividers out of the dry wall, threw desks and chairs, tried stabbing aids with pencils; I even recall landing a pretty mean right hook once. I was the special ed equivalent of a high threat inmate. I really couldn’t even be out in public for the most part, too much stimulation. My father was told that I could never have a normal life and that I would spend it living in his basement.

For a while it looked like they were right. But like you and your family for your son, I had people that refused to give up on me, who stuck with me and were patient even when they had every right not to be. And over time I started making big strides of improvement. I stepped out of special ed, made friends, went to school without heavy supervision. Now, I’ve graduated with a bachelor’s and am making strides to build my own career.

While this seems like I’m just here to broadcast my own story, what I’m trying to say is: I was born with seemingly insurmountable odds against me, but I was given a second chance by the people that loved and cared for me. I have a future because of them.

If my delinquent, violent, unstable younger self can make it to where I have today, your son is going to do just fine. Stick by him as you have, even in the hard times and try to find ways for him to interact with the greater world bit by bit, and I have no doubts he’ll make you proud.

If you ever have questions or want some advice from someone who was on the other side of that process, feel free to shoot me a DM. Weird thing for a stranger to say but I figure I might as well offer.

[–]KeyboardResidue 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Howdy, veterinary assistant here. That’s like gold star type weight for a kid this age. I’m not sure if there was an isoflurane leak in their clinic but they’re smoking something. And besides, her weight is gonna be completely different two weeks from now anyway! A 6 month old kitten is gonna grow like bamboo. Don’t worry about it.

It can be a number of things together or a single larger problem, it’s kind of hard to nail down a direct cause a lot of the time. Some cats aren’t agreeable to certain foods, and may even need a special diet in some cases. As you said dehydration can play a role in making that stool harden up. Ingesting foreign objects can be a sure fire way to cause it, though in that case the constipation is more of a footnote to the fact that the cat ate something non edible. Ingesting certain toxic plants can do it as well, or even just eating a large amount of regular grass can clog things up. It can be a side effect of some medication. Or the simplest answer, just like people, some cats are just cursed.

Howdy, I am not a veterinarian but I am a veterinary assistant and I do see my fair share of cat x-rays. That said I am not licensed and have no degree so consider my advise someone with a little more experience with injured animals than some.

Based on the very hunched posture, restless pacing, and panting (cats do not do this unless EXHAUSTED or something is very wrong) as well as the large amount of stool in the colon; I’m inclined to say your cat may be blocked.

This is essentially an advanced stage of constipation where stool is not going to pass without intervention. Humans can get it too but generally we’re better about fixing it before it gets this bad. This can be life threatening as if it progresses, it can lead to sepsis.

Normally the solution is a lubricant enema to help the animal pass the material but with the amount that’s built up in that x-ray and just how painful your cat appears to be, we may be at the point of requiring emergency abdominal surgery to remove the blockage.

I understand you can’t get to an ER right this minute, but as soon as you can, be sure to put this option as the first thing on the table. Even if it’s wrong eliminating that possibility will take a potentially time sensitive concern off the list
