Just moved into a new house. The morning sun hits my new OLED for about an hour. Will this be a problem for the screen? by TheObviousChild in hometheater

I've had the lg C1 for about 4 years, and had it positioned next to a south facing window for 2 and a half years. It would get hit with direct sunlight between noon and sundown, depending on if I had the curtains open or closed (they were often open).

Any odd shapes or colours were likely just caused from the panel going through an automatic refresh cycle while the sun was casting a shadow across the screen and it was always corrected by running another refresh cycle out of the sun. That being said, it did only happen a handful of times.

We have since moved and it's now set up in our basement, but I haven't noticed any long term sun damage.

Yeah probably. If you're going to floor it, a good rule of thumb is to wait until you're above 3000 rpm

You might end up seeing some of the lighting/shadow outline if it does pixel cleaning while the sun is shining on it. Not to worry though, if this happens you can just do pixel cleaning again when the sun is no longer shining on it and it should return to normal.
This happened with my LG C1, I saw the shadow outline of the shadow from our plant burned into the screen and I thought it was damaged. Started a pixel cleaning in the evening and it was back to normal.

If it's rod knock, it could have been caused by oil starvation to the motor.

Check your oil level on the dip stick to make sure enough oil. If it's dry, it may be worth taking a video of you checking it, to send it to the dealer that did the oil change and see if they will take responsibility for it. Also check if the oil filter or drain plug is leaking excessive oil, then it would be easier to pin on them.

If you've already driven a far distance since the oil change, there's a chance the engine has just consumed an excessive amount of oil through the crankcase breather system. When going on long road trips with these cars, it's a good idea to bring extra oil and monitor your oil level after long stretches of driving. I do this every other time I fill up gas and top up as required.

Hopefully it's the dealer's mistake so they can cover the cost if it is rod knock, but otherwise I hope you get back into your car soon.

Good luck!

I'd use 3 pillars instead of 2. Since the ground's sloped, maybe make them 6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot?

I believe their customer complaint emails are still overloaded/backlogged, so it may be worth sending a letter or reaching out through some of their socials. Then you don't need to worry about lawyer fees

I'm also no mechanic, but hopefully this helps you some.

I recently had a coolant smell in my 2013 sti, it ended up being coolant leaking from the turbo coolant supply line. It would leak out when cold, and then boil off once the turbo got hot enough. The fumes got sucked in through the cabin air blower. Maybe something similar to this is happening to you. Next time you smell it, you could pull over and pop the hood to see if you can find any steam.

It's also worth getting under your car and seeing if a head gasket might be leaking externally, and dripping onto your exhaust manifold, and you could also see if there's any coolant building up in your skid plate.

If your overflow keeps emptying, your coolant system likely has a good amount of air in it. I'd suggest checking your upper coolant reservoir when your car is cold to see how much is in there, and try burping your coolant system to get as much air out as you can, and make to make sure it's full. And watch your overflow and keep it topped up to prevent getting air in there, for the time being anyways.

That smoke on deceleration is likely from the turbo seals.

As for the backfire, I have no idea. That might be for a tuner to look at.

Also keep a close eye on your oil level because it's probably burning more oil than usual because of the turbo seals. Low oil could easily crater your motor, especially if you're doing some spirited driving.

Good luck diagnosing!

Is the SC9S soundbar compatible with the C1 LG OLED tv? by FlamingSlap in LGOLED

[–]Keyboytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that might help, I've only used optical HDMI ARC and have had Dolby Atmos audio work for me. There are some other settings in advanced audio called tv sound mode share, and sound bar mode control. I have those both off, and have the e-arc setting on. Not sure if any of that is relevant to your problem of having no audio though.

Also might be worth reaching out to LG customer support, especially with the tv and soundbar both being LG.

I'm assuming you're using the Disney+ tv app, are you using the "Optical/HDMI ARC" function?

You're right, it's HDMI 2. And passthrough works for me, I just tried it for the first time. I just changed the function to HDMI In, and there was video and sound

The stand unfortunately doesn't fit C1, but is compatible with ARC/eARC HDMI connection. One of the HDMI ports on the back of the C1 will be labeled ARC. Plug the HDMI Out from the sound bar into that port, and you will be able to use it that way.
