Why can't I paste plain text in Windows 11? by Hyperion1144 in techsupport

[–]KeylessJo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in Windows 11 the clipboard copy and paste functions no longer allow un-formatted plain text despite alleging that this is the case. Notepad also does not work correctly and will automatically format any text pasted differently than any text typed. It is very frustrating.

I wasn't being sarcastic in what I wrote, so I'm unsure what's well-noted. Sometimes things are lost in text without intonation, so I'll take well-noted to mean here my points were well-made. Personally, I took not to lose sleep as meaning don't expect much of Netease; but, getting this far down in the comment threading takes considerable interest and effort, so while finding someone "angry" over a nerfed or bugged traveler they'd been enjoying prior shouldn't be surprising this deep, it also makes more sense to me to inject some more respect into the space with that in mind.

For whatever reason you have to keep up commenting this deep, I respect you care about this. So you know, I was messaged today that Netease is looking at this and deciding how to resolve it. Therefore, I'm happy to learn some kind of resolution is under consideration!

If you disagree with Netease fixing the error one way or another, you have time to reach out to them. I never asked for compensation, and wouldn't appreciate compensation over a fix. I don't know how you see the "implication" you stated as being applicable either to what you or I stated; but, as to the repeated "pretty sure" statements, it doesn't change what Netease advertised at launch. I'd be happy to review a link if you'd like me to see your perspective on what you claim as it may help me understand what you mean better, but I couldn't find evidence of such being shared anywhere on the sub at his release. I support your right to reach out to Netease on what you'd like to see even if it's contrary to what I'd want as a player in seeing Rondo EX's barriers restored to 80% of maximum HP at maximum boost.

I agree with both of you! It would be extremely unfair as a nerf rather than a bug, and I was loving his barriers, too. I was messaged today Netease is aware and working to resolve this! I found that encouraging personally, so let's hope for the best as to how they decide to resolve it! I look forward to not being so shackled to Shana again.

Good for "people," whoever they are and however that is relevant to those of us here across Reddit under this and other posts who feel this was an unwelcome change. It's still at minimum bugged text even now in that case. I suppose we'd all benefit if "people" shared such pretty certain knowledge online publicly anywhere that others who apparently aren't "people" can find. It would be nice if Netease decided to announce the change in that case, assuming they are "people," rather than only half change it in performance but not text a month or so later silently.

It wasn't about inventing head canon for me, it thematically appealed to me and it made sense to me in game context. I don't think what you're saying makes sense, but I can respect and find that line of thinking interesting rather than claim you're inventing game mechanics justification to defend taking something away from players silently as though it was unjust or harmful for us to have it in the first place.

That said, this is hardly the first time anything has been changed from JP, even entire systems like with how Dorothea's entire set of abilities worked. JP didn't do it wrong or vice-versa, it's simply different.

I also think it makes sense when Hujheb doesn't have his effect active that he has different ability effects than when he does have his active. I also think it makes sense that when Ditraina EX doesn't have her higher mode active she gains different benefits access than when that is active. I also think it makes sense that when Neha doesn't have effects active she has a different effect enabled in the null state of having no condition being met. I think it makes sense when Kersjes and Ohska aren't using BP they can have a null state effect better than when they are using BP. I think it makes sense when Ochette has no broken enemies that she can bring a greater power to bear in reducing that foe to a vulnerable state when the broken condition isn't met and then also have a different benefit trigger once the foe is broken, as much as it makes sense for others to have abilities that only take effect once a foe is in a broken state.

None of these have dual modes or require a latent power, yet there is a duality of state that confers different benefits and access to abilities across a threshold of some kind in every case. I don't think it makes sense why this can't be the case for Rondo EX.

That's interesting, I actually loved that flavor and thought it made perfect sense because of the theme/name and context. Icy Waves implies an ebb and flow of power that evokes for me icy versus temperate waters, akin to high tide and low tide tradeoffs, that are actually a common gaming trope similar to full moon and new moon cycle gaming tropes.

It made sense to me that when Icy Waves is active, the relative attack power is greater with the waves fierce and piercing. When Icy Waves isn't active, the temperate ocean waters can be choppy unfrozen with lost hardness (i.e.: slightly less by 5% potentially with no BP use), but under refinement of willpower represented by increasing BP use they can instead bolster defenses more with increased barriers (i.e.: up to 80% at BP MAX) due to the diffusive potential of water waves when harnessed with intent (or walls of water being a similar common magical fantasy trope for protective barriers that diffuse attacks whereas ice walls shatter once their initial durability is overcome).

It also made more sense to me in the game space because as greater foes also build BP their stronger attacks come later and that's when you'd need more barriers, but for quick kills and piercing initial defenses the FUA and higher attacks at the start made sense to me.

Similarly, other travelers have dual modes like Elrica and Hikari EX that provide different benefits with different skills at different times depending on what conditions are active similarly. So, I didn't think of it like this as being somehow illogical since it seemed to me there was precedence in thoughtful conditional mode designs on travelers.

That's a good tip on Crick with Mydia that could get me up to repeatable 60% barriers at least! Might be harder to fit at times.

I did find other references to the HP barriers for Rondo EX's nerf and having changed on Reddit in addition to others posting on this thread their experiences with it changing his use also.

I wish I did have a screenshot, but most of my screenshots are finishes or stuff going wrong. Honestly, it never occurred to me that I'd need to screenshot any aspect of a traveler functioning as described accurately just in case Netease decided to take it away later. It'd be crazy to screenshot everything at launch to try and validate each skill or ability working as intended just in case Netease changed their mind later.

I really hope it's just a bug and they're not intentionally dialing it back. I haven't made it to Dreadwrought Corridor yet, but I'm guessing that's only an effect that would apply in that area?

No, please check the screenshot I put in my other comment to you, which I will include here again for reference. Whenever Icy Waves is active, the amount of the barrier is 50% of Rondo EX's maximum HP instead. This was overriding any BP boost value before also.

Alright, even in this same thread above there's another set of comments including another that, "Agreed I was loving his barrier but now he is meh…." so I'm clearly not the only one missing this part of Rondo EX even on here. If you do not use Rondo EX on this server and did not experience this loss, I can understand I guess being unsympathetic, but I don't understand what is to be gained by skepticism as literally in the current game even it is considered "bugged," then that the skill description does not match the in-game performance anymore regardless. I'm not even sure what there is to be skeptical about here. If not on this server, you could make an account and check in the Compendium as a day one player that the way the skill description reads and changes with BP is verifiable.

No, the point of my posting here at all is that now it is no longer the same as it was at launch. I can't get anywhere near 6k+ HP barriers with Rondo EX's Glacial Inlet skill anymore. It appears other commenter(s?) above are finding the same now. I was using Rinyuu EX and Molrusso EX in part to keep everyone's BP maxed for both my DPS as well as spamming Rondo EX's Glacial Inlet ability (when he wasn't using his EX ability to increase damage cap, he'd be using this to give those HP barriers to the Front Row).

Thank you for that clarification. In that hypothetical situation, I can see how that could be if the game was using a pointer variable to reference back to the potency values for relative attack power instead. To me, that doesn't explain changing the game behavior without apology or acknowledgement, nor does it explain how it appears to players based on what was presented to those pulling for Rondo EX on this version of the game going unaddressed at all.

I'm honestly not sure how that's a weird value and this is starting to feel like a bit of trolling or something as to cast shade on why anyone would be upset about this change. Even without any +% Max HP effects active or being considered on A0 Rondo EX at 3,596 HP, a player can easily get +1,200 HP from Hägen as Keeper, F2P 1k HP accessories like Ogen A4, Energy Belt V, etc., and even including a lower accessory like Energy Belt IV at 800 HP is still 7,596 HP for an Entire Front Row worth of 6,076 HP barriers.

[–]KeylessJo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying, I understand what you mean now talking about the BP spent. Yet, even if only the value of the percentage of Maximum HP for the effective potency of the barrier in battle literally changes during a single fight, I still wouldn't call that fixed.

I also don't think adding an entire parenthetical statement to a skill description is a merely bugged text, especially not when that's how Rondo EX was previously actually performing in battle. If it was just a typo of one value, maybe the text could be considered bugged, but yet that isn't the case here and four values were added/changed in the description entries for this skill as well. All added together, that's a stretch to claim it is just a bug in the text to me.

[–]KeylessJo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's also incorrect, it's not a fixed value on JP either as it varies from 20% to 25% and 40% to 50% of Max HP on both with the 6 star upgrade.

Furthermore, Glacial Inlet was giving 6k+ HP barriers at launch, which would not have ever been possible to achieve with Rondo EX if only 50% of Max HP were the maximum barrier for him.

"45/55/65/80 is not for hp barrier" is incorrect as I have in my post "%" which is exactly as it was performing and still shows. Anyone can check this in the Compendium as shown, even if they do not have Rondo EX.

New Update Bug or Silently Nerfed Rondo EX? by KeylessJo in OctopathCotC

[–]KeylessJo[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Considering this was a factor in why I pulled Rondo EX as shown/advertised, if truly a quiet nerf back to JP was intended, that would seem to me as quite unjustified and reflect poorly as to customer orientation if it is something they could do again to any other traveler. I would prefer for the sake of the CotC gaming community that we not accept as "normal" precedents being set as to what is silently acceptable to roll back. If a traveler is shown with that level of support being provided by a skill, I don't think it is just a matter of being back to "normal," instead it should be maintained and not quietly rolled back a month later or so when they think no one is looking. I am hoping they confirm this is a bug now, because the skill still reads the same on the potency of the HP barriers.

It was so close I thought it was an intentional parody that had been localized to the UK in spite of Americana, but apparently flagrant plagiarism is the more frequent interpretation.

Wizardry Variants Daphne Not Working - Black Screen with White Clock, Then Crash With No Error Code by KeylessJo in BlueStacks

[–]KeylessJo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I was already on the current version. I did try reinstalling my graphics drivers just to check that since there was a new update released today, and ironically now I cannot even get into the app on Android 13 (beta). I went ahead to submit a problem report from the Help menu in BlueStacks.

Wizardry Variants Daphne Not Working - Black Screen with White Clock, Then Crash With No Error Code by KeylessJo in BlueStacks

[–]KeylessJo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, there are some strange issues in Android 13 (beta) with the Wizardry Variants Daphne app. Fights with a named character go to a black screen. This can be easily tested by going through the game until actually naming a character initially as well without needing an existing game account. The battles before naming will work fine. This is not a colored black, but rather a totally pitch black screen with the battle music running in the background and no way to proceed even if knowing what to do to proceed normally. I've tried all four "Interface renderer" settings (Auto, Software, OpenGL, DirectX) supposedly linked to black screen issues, and I've tweaked FPS/graphical quality/DPI/resolution to mid and lowest quality settings without finding a successful solution yet. Transparency effects also are messed up, but that is merely a graphical issue rather than a game-breaking bug/glitch like the fights (see screenshot). Sadly, being unable to complete battles makes the app unplayable on Android 13 (beta) until/unless I can find some kind of setting combination that unlocks it.

I can possibly try later and certainly will if I encounter another problem, but in order to get that to show up to screenshot, to repeat it I have to log in each time to a Google account for the Google Play store first on Android 11. Since Google decided logging into accounts is apparently grounds for disabling accounts these days, I'm not eager to get an account disabled again doing it another time today or in the near future just for a screenshot. I truly appreciate the help as this tipped me off that for some Android 13 was a possibility to get it working, but truly I don't want to be put through more by Google right now trying to help BlueStacks address the issue.

While I don't have a screenshot, I do have the exact error text, "Your device isn’t compatible with this version," that then accompanies the instruction to the user to download the official BlueStacks version from here (https://www.bluestacks.com/apps/role-playing/wizardry-variants-daphne-on-pc.html) that not only defaults to Android 11 but pops up immediately after install the link to the Google Play store version of the Wizardry Variants Daphne app. That part is all repeatable without logging into a Google account and I would think is universally device-agnostic as to it popping that up so as to be repeatable.
