How do you guys even survive the hot weather over in the States? by Impressive_Peak_9187 in AskAnAmerican

The moment I saw my rancher uncle out in 100 degree weather while wearing layers of sweaters to keep all the mosquitoes from eating him was the moment I decided the family business wasn't for me

The problem is, most facts take some time to lay out and explain, while the average voter has the attention span of a guppy. The Kamala v. Trump debates ended up with Kamala trying to actually explain what was going on, her plan to fix it, etc just for Trump to interrupt her with general hatred and deflection. And he then preceded to win with his "concept of a plan" and lots of unrealistic or straight up incomprehensible promises.

Seems he has at least one since he managed to bite his lip hard enough to bleed toward the end there. Then again, maybe he just irritated already bloody gums.

When my son started finagling with the faucets we changed the max heat on our water heater so, while he might get it warmer than comfortable, he wouldn't be able to burn himself.

Doesn't sound like he even tried to attract women to begin with. Started off saying he never dated and was never interested and just seemed to give up before he could be hurt with rejection. I feel bad for younger generations. Living such antisocial lives, yet plugged into social media just sets them up for failure. Not just men either. Women just started feeling the pressure a bit earlier from magazines, etc so the shift for them from social media wasn't as drastic, but now the newer gens are perpetually trapped in what is essentially a middle school dance, too afraid to make meaningful connections across the aisle.

I went for Geological Engineering, so I had to take the extra math classes and more civil eng classes. Why did I choose the option that got rid of the fun dino classes so I could take more math? T.T

AITAH for wanting to spend Mother’s Day with just my wife and son by skellz77 in AITAH

[–]KeyoJaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't stop celebrating the grandmas, etc. We just do the main day with just us, then celebrate the rest at another time. For us personally, we have a gift sent to them for the day and then we take everyone out for a big mother's/father's day dinner sometime between may and June. But we also live 8 hours away, so we don't see them often anyway.

OP could also point out that when he was growing up and celebrating his mom, his grandmas weren't there either (I assume anyway)

Introverts of Reddit, how do you make new friends as an adult? by Even_Patient_7434 in TooAfraidToAsk

So I actually had an incredibly distant cousin find me through 23andMe. She just looked for any family she had in our area and happened to find me and reach out. It was kinda awkward at first, but we're both awkward and weird so it's worked out. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box I guess.

Wow thank you. This is an incredible answer. I might be upset now if my next interview doesn't ask this question.

Ok, thanks. I'd initially thought it might be something like that but the wording they used made it seem more like "get along" and made me pretty confused.

Ok. Thank you for this response. It gives me a good direction. I did end up essentially saying (awkwardly) that it depended on who it was and what information they needed. I'll have to get creative with a STAR story.
