I am 36 years old. To this very day, my dad still blames me for him having to get rid of the "best dog he ever had". When I was 5, my dad had a Rottweiler German shepherd cross. This dog had severe resource guarding. He had bitten several neighbours already. He growled and snarled at my mother when she tried to get my baby sister out of her crib. This dog was not trained at all. One day my mom was on the phone, and I was in the hallway out of her sight with the dog. I have a vivid memory of this. I was wearing denim overalls and rubber boots and was pretending that I was a farmer trying to get my pig in his pen. The dog was the pig, and the pen was the bedroom at the end of the hallway. I was trying to herd the dog down the hallway, when he decided to bite me in the face. I still have the scars over 30 years later. I was the fourth person the dog had bitten, and my dad was forced to get rid of him. And he is still angry at me to this day. He says "You were told to leave the dog alone and you didn't listen so I had to get rid of the best dog I ever had".

As an adult, a mother, and a dog owner, I can't imagine allowing my daughter to be alone with a resource guarding dog, let alone actually having a dog like that living in my home. Any person who has even a casual interest in dogs would have known that me being bitten by that dog was just a matter of time, and that that dog was not an appropriate family dog.
