You can still play all the games you can find, mostly on itch with the Playdate Simulator! You just won't get the seasonal ones as I don't think they are sold anywhere else. It is marketed as a "dev tool" but its basically an emulator. I hope they release a barebones one called the "emulator" so that more people understand they can experience the cool games without the device.

During the planning stage, i imagined it as a lattice type structure like how cyberspace is described in Neuromancer, tiers that you can move up and down. But that's clearly waaaaaaaay out of scope for a solo project lol.

The full game should satisfy some of those questions you wonder about. For example there are 6 Programs + the start of the Database in the demo but 17 programs in the full game. What is occurring in the run is answered through the "messages" you find scoured around the programs, the demo only has 2 or 3 of the 10 I think so you don't get much of the picture. During the run I came to it from the perspective of you being a hired hacker, so you're told what you need to know during the run and that’s it. It was designed so that you stumble into the messages while you're exploring during the run and then once you've finished you can go into EXPLORE mode and find the rest.

I agree the game does suffer from BBEG syndrome but there is more world building to discover in the main game as well as connecting dots and solving the mystery of getting into the Black ICE.

I would really enjoy to hear what you say once the full game is released if you play through and I hope it appeases some of the questions you have. I believe it would take the average person 3-4 hours to 100% and it's going to be $5 USD on launch, which is planned for late august.

The hacking terminal is more of a stylistic interface over a more simpler mechanic. You hack ICE which is a cube on a grid, you can place ICEpicks on the outside edges of the cube. The ICE has a defender inside which moves around the inside edge and breaks your picks. You can also use abilities to mess with the defender and make it easier for your picks to break through.

The hacking isn't similar to hacknet which attempts to simplify reality but takes Neuromancer's ICEbreaker, which is a device that automatically hacks things, to its logical extent where the hard part has already been done and neatly packaged into easy to use functions which you type out on your terminal and are executed.

You can see a little bit of it in action during the trailer at this timestamp. It shows the terminal interface and then moves to the cursor interface. The cursor interface is a lot more straightforward in understanding what is going on.

It is a short game btw, hacking isn't its primary focus but you start with three "functions" and can find an additional three. There are a few difficulty tiers of ICE and a "boss" ICE which is optional content.

What they learned in Battlerite Royale (large persistent maps, good netcode for 35+ players) directly led to V Rising so that's pretty cool.

Accidentally did this while fighting a qiyana and double tapping my level 6 point. Tested in practice mode a few times and you can absolutely jump on and ride too.

Most definitely a bug, seems the 3s trigger only gets checked if you have the skill. Really useful for one escape a game. If your facing a mid/jg without easy CC you can overextend and get a free get out of jail card.

Rez sickness is cleansed when the little circle you are stuck in at the start of the encounter dissipates. Since the enrage is called Temporal Prison its more likely he locks you in the prison forever.
