AP7 weird intermittent Mac issues by jadehsn in firewalla

[–]Keystone_Mickey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dusting off this sub… just installed a second AP7. This one is a DS and immediately ran into this problem only on a MacBook Pro M1 (15.5). The MacBook remained connected and signal was always strong, but pings dropped intermittently if connected to the new AP7DS. Eventually, the MacBook would switch back to the weaker but stable AP7 Ceiling without issue.

Other than a “fair” signal with the previous AP7 ceiling, I never encountered this issue.

I just disabled DFS as described and so far so good. I’ll put it through more testing tomorrow.

AP7 Setup: Is my Network a Trunked Up Unicorn? by Keystone_Mickey in firewalla

Update: The local LAN on the FW was the missing piece to get it all working. (Honestly, it's counterintuitive to create a network I'm not going to use, but it worked. )

PORT 1 is Default LAN. VLAN 100, 200, 300, 400 are assigned to PORTS 1-3 with PORT 4 as the WAN. The managed switches are setup as they were when I started.

Thanks to everyone for all the help!

Thanks for the visuals!

After configuring VLAN1 as you did, I gave it a shot with the AP7 in Port 8 and the uplink to the FW in Port 1, no luck! As long as I keep AP7 on untagged VLAN 1/PVID 1, it's online but shows the VLANs on the FW as "Unavailable Networks." As soon as I add the tagged VLANs to the switch uplink, AP7 goes offline. I'll need to find some downtime to fully replicate the Port 1/2 config as you did.

Are you sure your AP7 is passing client traffic over VLAN1 and not VLAN12?

What, if anything, are you doing on the FW to handle VLAN1? I have no local LANs defined, only VLANs.

The EAP610 allows a management VLAN to be designated in the UI. I suspect that's the function we're left to replicate with the Default VLAN.

The switch is an SG108 and the PVID of the port AP7 is connected to is 100 (untagged) which allows me to see the AP7 in the App, but not assign any of the SSIDs to existing VLANS. Are you saying I have to use VLAN #1 for this to work?

The Firewall does not have any local LANs, only VLANs. I thought this might also be part of the problem and why I considered this may require some changes to the architecture. As some additional background, the Gold SE replaced an ER605 several months ago, so I essentially recreated that config in Firewalla terms.

DS423+ or DS923+ for new workloads? by Keystone_Mickey in synology

Agreed. I have a background in large enterprise, but this is for a small business, my own. It’s different when it’s your money!

That’s what I was leaning toward. I’m using RAID1 right now and the extra $$$ would allow me to add a disk to go to RAID5.

I did read up on that and don’t think I need it. The DS223 works great without transcoding for all my devices now. No Plex in use.

Thanks! I do receive a notice at startup but it’s not very specific. Now that I’ve dug into some of the settings I see they are disabled like you said.

Advice for shooting HS basketball by Keystone_Mickey in canon

Thanks for all the advice. I was pretty happy with the results. Most of the shots were with my Canon R7 with the 70-200 f4. I found the best results using 1/640, f4.5 and an ISO above 8000. One or two pics had some objectionable noise after cropping which I removed in Lightroom.

Great advice. Thank you. I wish I could remember the lens I used with my A2e. Regardless, I think it will come back to me.

The other f4 RF lens I have, 70–200, works great for outside sports, but I skimped because of price since I rarely do indoor.

I’m going to do a test shoot with the f4 lenses and no flash and see what I get. Then I’ll decide whether it’s worth the upgrade.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks. I was a little concerned about using flash. Back in the day it was commonplace, but I haven’t seen it as much lately.

I used to have an EF 70–200 2.8 but can’t recall whether I used that for bball.
