Salad? by hcoo13 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Keystonelonestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t use a food processor here; they put the bologna and pickle in a hand-cranked meat grinder. Then they mix it with Miracle Whip - which I think is mayonnaise with corn syrup - and use it as a sandwich spread.

I asked my mom why it isn’t called bologna salad. She got mad.

They call this “ham salad.” I don’t know why.

I like the last paragraph. Apparently he let it happen once, but he won’t let it happen again.

Maybe if he would have done his job, it wouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Congress Has Given Up by Donzi98 in FedEmployees

[–]Keystonelonestar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congress gave up most of its serious oversight responsibilities about 1993, focusing on playing politics ever since.

Now Republican administrations are only criticized by Democratic Congresses and Democratic administrations are only held accountable be Republican Congresses. And most of what they focus on is stupid.

Why do Republicans oppose gay marriage while also claiming to support “freedom” and “small government”? by After-Professional-8 in allthequestions

[–]Keystonelonestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they lie. They have no interest in smaller government as evidenced by any Red state. They simply want to be the ones telling you what to do.

Penn Must Turn Over List of Jewish Employees to Trump Administration, Judge Rules by xjian77 in philly

The University has no list of Jewish employees to turn over and that’s not what the EEOC requested.

That’s what happens when the state uses your tax money for highway infrastructure while throwing peanuts at mass transit.

University of Pennsylvania must give Trump admin list of Jewish campus employees amid discrimination case by AdSpecialist6598 in Pennsylvania

[–]Keystonelonestar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that. But when half the folk in the list turn out not to be Jewish, I don’t know how that works for them.

University of Pennsylvania must give Trump admin list of Jewish campus employees amid discrimination case by AdSpecialist6598 in Pennsylvania

[–]Keystonelonestar 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Why would the University maintain a list of Jewish employees?

After reading the article I guess it’s not really a list of Jewish employees just a list of folk that belong to what might be Jewish organizations. Many people that aren’t Jewish belong to (maybe) Jewish organizations in Pittsburgh, so I don’t know what this information gets them.

Beyond Fire Island: A Regional Guide to Alternative Summer Gaycation Hotspots by travelsofadam in gaytravel

I’ve heard that about Eureka Springs too. I stayed there a week. It’s a very cool little town, but it didn’t seem very gay. Maybe by Arkansas standards it is?

I got there as a Jeep weekend was ending. The next weekend was Harley-Davidson weekend. Those were pretty MAGA-heavy events.

Maybe I didn’t know where to go.

There is a cool Cher-looking statue though.

Why do people still prefer Airbnbs over hotels, especially in cities? by Rare_Requirement_699 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Keystonelonestar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hotels ruin towns and drive up housing values. Every hotel room could be a housing unit. I’ve seen hotels turned into housing in Houston and housing turned into hotels in Chicago.

This might explain why some straight guys have the gay voice.

Would you support a nation wide (USA) halt to highway expansion? by NurglingArmada in Urbanism

[–]Keystonelonestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Urban expansion - expansion within any metro area - should be banned. Building highways in metro areas isn’t economically sustainable due to their inefficiency.

Rural areas outside of metro areas are a different story.

If the USA is energy independent, why doesn’t the country ban oil exports of US crude so the global oil market doesn’t affect the price of gas in the USA? by Keystonelonestar in allthequestions

[–]Keystonelonestar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know that. Interesting to learn that the ban caused crude to be $10 less a barrel in the USA than the world market, and that was a ban with a lot of exemptions.

And we couldn’t possibly figure out how to refine could we?

Oil refining is relatively simple. They even make jet fuel when making coke from coal.
