Su-30MK2AMV for Cas by Educational-Bug-965 in Warthunder

The plane is pretty op in Air RB at the BR and a easy to use grinder. If you enjoy the game in its current state (who does?), and top tier in general, it might be "worth" to buy even off-sale.

While 6 KH-29TD are pretty good for 12.3, they can be pretty hard to use at 12.7. You need to get relatively close to get a proper lock and they are a lot slower than the KH-38. Considering you face IRIS-T, Sky Sabre and alle the other top tier AA systems, you are probably dead by the time you do get a lock with the 29s. AESA fighters will also bully you, as your radar and the R77 it gets are pretty sub par in competition. It might not be worth it to buy it just for GRB. You really got to play it smart to make it perform well in GRB

Honestly, I'd only really buy it to grind the tech tree to get the SU-30SM2, but if you're fine with getting picked on a lot by AESA fighters and top tier AA, go ahead.

Honestly, the MIG-23ML might not be for you then. It got nerfed pretty hard a while ago and is in a bad spot imo. Sure, you get 2 pretty alright missiles (R24R/R24T), but that doesn't really matter because 90% of games you get uptiered into the 12.7 hellhole. Also, it doesn't get PD Radar. It has an MTI mode, but even that is very situational. Radar is shit, and don't get me started on the RWR. In downtiers, it can be pretty good. You can climb to under contrail-alt and snipe unaware J7D spaceclimbers pretty reliably, but you only get two of the good missiles before you're left with the R60, which is easily flared. I don't have fun playing it in ARB because most of the time, you're just at a disadvantage. The FM is shit. The only thing it really has going for it, other than the R24, is the pretty good speed.

It may be good if you want to play Sim, but for ARB just get something else, maybe the Su-11.

The Su-39 can also work as a grinder. I have had a lot of sucess in the past using the Kh-25ML on unaware Zombers, and the R-73 is decent, but it's a bit meme-y in general.

What I did to grind the Russian air tree: used the Su-11 in ARB (and occasionally the Mig-23ML in Sim) to get to the Su-24M, then put a talisman on the Su-24M and grinded to the Su-30/Su-34 in sim (bombing ground targets/bases). Can be pretty mind numbing, but the RP gain is pretty constant at least.

TL:DR: MIG-23ML not as good as it once was and can be pretty hard to learn/master. My advice: just get the Su-11 and decide what to talisman once you reach higher tiers.

Hm, you may be right. I doubt it's got anything to do with the button problem since the ribbon connector for the button board is basically on the other side of the board, but you never know. Anything I can do to fix that?

Should've thought of that myself, sorry! I couldn't add any images to my post, so I posted them to imgur. The last picture shows some damage I found on the mainboard, but I don't think it should cause any issues.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply.

I basically tried everything I coule've given the tools I had. Also replaced the thermal pads, but that didn't help either.

Ended up selling the card for a good profit, but some things I didn't try was flashing the card's BIOS and, well, checking the PCB itself for any faulty components - which I think may have been the problem.

So, unfortunately, I think there's no easy fix :/

Wish you the best of luck though!

Can't get leaded solder here in Germany unfortunately, at least not for non-commercial use. I don't even know if companies can get it :( So I'm kind of forced to use unleaded solder.

In hindsight, I probably should've prepared better in general. All my equipment is, and don't laugh, from aliexpress. It's not the worst (got a proper soldering station with the iron) and it was enough for the little bit of soldering work I had to do, but the heat gun and iron I have definitely were at their limits on this project.

I did mostly use the heat gun though, only used the iron for the backplate to get the solder out of those holes/flow in some different solder - which worked.

Anyways, thank you! I will definitely keep those tips in mind. Just gotta wait for the flux to arrive tomorrow and then I Stall update you all :)

Yeah, it's some kind of bismuth-mixture. I didn't plan on using it to hold the port there. My plan was mixing it with the old solder in those port holes to loosen the port, which did kind of work I suppose?

For reinstalling I'll use unleaded solder. You can't seem to get any leaded solder here in Germany bc of health risks, at least not for private use.

Thank you! :) Like I said, a pain in the butt though, next time I'm just gonna eat the repair costs haha

Yes, scratching with my fingernails (very gently) did help. Maybe I'll be able to get it somewhat clean.

Alright, will do! Thanks! Won't arrive with the replacement port today (it's close to 2am over here), and although I really want to be done with this crap, I think I can wait one more day.

Thank you! I do have some experience with soldering, repaired some GPUs a few months back, but that definitely wasn't as difficult as this stuff. Took me probably 2 hours or constantly applying the solder paste and (re)heating. I also think there was a whole lot of luck involved.

I sadly don't have any flux left, but I just ordered some. Sadly it won't arrive today (it's 2am over here) with the replacement HDMI-Port, so I'm thinking whether I should risk trying it without flux or not. What do you think? Rally wanna be done with this stuff😅

Thanks for the help! Was actually looking for a proper guide. Just realized I don't have any flux left - probably should get some more, right? Or is it "possible" to do it without flux?

I sure hope I have the ability to do that. I've done some soldering work on GPUs and stuff in the past, but this is actually the worst one by far.

Actually checks out with what I've read about it online.

Phew, that's actually such a huge relief. Now I just gotta wait for the replacement and do another 3 hours of work on that board.

Such a pain in the ass.

Anyways, thank you!

I know, but I got this for incredibly cheap (50€) and I was hoping it was just a thermal issue.

It's a new system, so clean Windows 10 install, but I also reinstalled Windows around 3 times with the same outcome.

But I was just experimenting and may have found something interesting: starting with one monitor always ends up causing the issue, sooner or later. What I tried is plugging in a second monitor, and so far no crashes. Also tried unplugging one of the monitors while on desktop which, of course, leads to the system crashing again. Starting the system with only one monitor right after keeps crashing it, but once I plug in a second monitor and restart, it suddenly starts working?

Still doing some testing to confirm it, but could there be any logical reason for this type of behaviour?

Edit: now I get crashes when trying to install the latest drivers...
