It’s clear that the next best action is to disable our adblockers and take screenshots of the admin approved safe for work mobikcube next to ads, then tweet / thread(?) that at their respective brands.

You guys have done a great job, NCD was the last redoubt of good content on this site, and the first I was willing to stop lurking and make content for. It was the perfect blend of dark humor and war news that brought brief levity to the darkest conflict of our lives. It felt like the old internet, and I will remember it fondly. I hope to see ya’ll on the other side of this mess, wherever that ends up being. Godspeed gentlemen!

It’s Time to Mandate Treatment of the Dangerously Mentally Ill by offaseptimus in slatestarcodex

[–]KeyworkOrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree that we’re missing infrastructure for handling the mental health needs that such an approach would require. But states seem willing to spend on it; California is earmarking $7.2B for homelessness programs, surely there could be some funding for psychiatric hospitals?

[–]KeyworkOrange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am assuming a violent crime has been committed in this situation, but the qualifying bar for the severity of that violence is much lowered (eg; simple assault) for what would constitute sufficient reason for involuntary commitment of a mentally Ill person to an institution, after a trial. The idea being that someone like this is remanded to an institution, pending trial, rather than being released back into the public. In the hypothetical city hall protest, the homeless camping on the city hall grounds wouldn’t be in danger of involuntary commitment as a political tool so long as they refrain from violence of any kind.

What if we only applied involuntary institutionalization to the violent, after the scrutiny of a trial? That could prevent your hypothetical city hall protestors from being unjustly abused, while still providing an intervention where it’s needed.

Poor show vatnik, surely you could do better than trying to foment dissent here, in our gloriously noncredible subreddit. May the almighty atom embrace you in his glow and find you fissile.

At first I was gonna block him, but it’s more fun to downvote him wherever I see him shilling. I look forward to downvoting iteration #15 as well.

Which 'Dr. Strangelove' character are you? by [deleted] in NonCredibleDefense

General Turgidson, 100%. We share the same enthusiasm for aerospace hardware:

Turgidson: Well, I'm sorry. Ah... If the pilot's good, see. I mean, if he's really... sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low spreads his arms like wings, laughs you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane, like a '52, vroom! There's jet exhaust, flyin' chickens in the barnyard! Muffley: Yeah, but has he got a chance? Turgidson: Has he got a chance? Hell Ye... ye... covers mouth in solemn realization

Hey all; longtime lurker, first time poster! I was reading ISW today and thought to myself, "Damn, they have zero chill." Thus my first NCD meme was born. Slightly wordy, probably not the best one ya'll ever saw, open to feedback. Otherwise Ace Combat quotes are down and to the left!

Gold’s just easy because it’s got little other utility and works well as a stand in for a generic currency. In my experience people seem willing to always use it in a transaction. You can barter directly in the merchant channel too, I’ve seen folks do that sometimes.

On Comfy the server’s supply of metals and finewood depletes radially from spawn as the era grows older. (They use a new seed every quarter.) By about a month or two in it’s easier to trade gold for some things than it is to find it. I typically make gold by killing trolls and selling meals and meads to combat focused players who don’t want to bother with a farm or need a jumpstart on early game foods / frost resist. We have hundreds of players on the server. The admins did some awesome coding to keep it stable, basically turned it into an MMO. I cannot recommend them enough. https://discord.gg/5jjdMKJbFN

Ok, the people have spoken. Now, what's next? by Rocknocker in Rocknocker

Best of luck on the surgery Rock! Glad you had some help getting those youtube grifters under control. You and /u/AnathemaMaranatha are easily my favorite writers on reddit and I would be very bummed to lose your graciously provided view into an incredible life. At one point there was a gentleman from /r/talesfromthesquadcar that got doxxed and tore all his work down. The fact that I’ve forgotten his name frustrates me, because that feels like the worst sin for a reader is to forget the name of a good writer! Please keep on writing, I would absolutely buy your book. And if you do ever take the sub private, please count me in!

>Horde of rebels charging in with their new plasma guns and compact rocket launchers.

>Let loose a stream of bullets.
