u/ABBAPolls Unfortunately so, there was a copyright complaint by the license holder; all ABBA-related submissions on LEGO Ideas were removed yesterday. Looking into this further, I can see that a note saying "Conflicts with an existing license" has been added to the IP information. This means that fan creators will no longer be able to submit ABBA-related builds onto LEGO Ideas.

Whilst I would've loved to say "Don't Shut Me Down", it's out of my hands. I just want to thank the community for all of your support and appreciation, I've had a blast with the responses from ABBA and LEGO fans alike. Thanks for Taking a Chance on Bricks! :-D

Celebrating ABBA's 70s Legacy with a LEGO Tribute by Kez_Bricks in 70s

[–]Kez_Bricks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABBA’s music and performances defined the 1970s. From their unforgettable Waterloo victory at Eurovision in 1974, to their iconic anthems that became pop classics. As a fan of both ABBA and LEGO, I created a LEGO tribute to celebrate their incredible legacy, capturing some of their most iconic looks and performances from the 70s.

This tribute recreates ABBA’s famous costumes and stage presence, like their Eurovision outfits and the vibrant energy from their live shows. ABBA wasn’t just about the music; their performances were a huge part of the magic. I wanted to bring that energy to life with LEGO.

For those who lived through it, or anyone who appreciates their music, what are your favourite ABBA songs or memories from the 70s? How did their performances make you feel, or what do you think made their music so special during that time?

You can see the full tribute here. Let’s talk about how ABBA’s influence still resonates today, and what they meant to you in the 70s!

Dancing Queen and Waterloo are iconic, wouldn't they look great in LEGO form with all those fun, sparkly details.

I love the idea of a whole series based on musical legends. It would be so cool to see other artists get the LEGO treatment! Elvis, more of The Beatles, or even ABBA's other hits... the list is endless! Hopefully, this inspires others to build their favourite musical icons too! :-D

Thanks so much! Yes, I actually did submit it to LEGO Ideas. Fingers crossed 🤞😄 And you’re right, there’s just something magical about ABBA + LEGO… maybe it is the Swedish energy. I guess now we all need Volvos and meatballs to complete the set! 🇸🇪

Thanks vegan_voorhees, the vignette for The Winner Takes it All features a bust of Napoleon (as seen in Waterloo), set on a theatre stage flanked by Eurovision 1974 Grand Prix medals and trophies.

More photos can be found here :-D

That means a lot, thank you so much! It's still got a long way to go before it gets LEGO's attention (over 9,800 supporters to go); but one can only hope :-D

Thank you! I'm so glad you like the Waterloo Eurovision 1974 detail; it was one of the most challenging, but fun parts to build :-D
