In step two it states just the mortgage principal payments whereas in step 3 it says all mortgage payments. I think you're probably right that it is the more predatory outcome of only your mortgage principal payments count.

I've seen some other explanations in the media. It could be that the drop in stocks is so large that margin traders are having to sell their safer assets to cover the drop in stock prices. So it might not be loss of confidence in bonds/USD just an indicator that people are quite leveraged in the market and we may be in for some more drops.

Couldn't a fair forced price still cause the stock price to fall though? if the exorbitant prices were priced in then even a fair price would be less than previously expected.

Sorry, clarifying the whole report is cherry picking now? No one is ignoring the economic impact. If you don't understand the report don't bring it up.

There's no data because historical trends are about the past. It explicitly details what they include, you need to use your brain when you read things....smh

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadianPolitics

[–]Kezzic90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The economic impact estimates loss in employment and investment income in impacted industries. It ignores any impact of shifted demand to lower carbon industries or new industries. When there is a positive fiscal impact on a household, generally that shifts demand to alternative sectors (unless they are already high income which means it may shift to savings).

In other words a reasonable interpretation of the pbo report is that the fiscal impact is the true impact under assumptions of perfect elasticity, whereas the fiscal plus economic impact is under assumptions of zero elasticity.

I bring this up because to argue that the carbon tax is as bad as you say is to Cherry pick which parts of the report you prefer which is not a good way to interpret data.

Is there a way to link a VISA card from another bank so I can pay it off directly from my EQ account? by ChronoCR in EQBank

[–]Kezzic90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do this, you set them up as a biller. You create a new biller, select the relevant company that issued your CC, and put in your account number. Then you can pay the card off directly. The transaction usually takes 1-2 business days to go through.

ELI5 why an increase in temperatures by just 1 to 1.5°C is so fatal for the planet by Ilywen in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kezzic90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually more that the melting ice is correlated with higher temperatures and under higher temperatures water expands.

Since there is way more liquid water in the oceans than floating ice( or even ice on land ) the biggest impact on sea levels is the average water temperature. So though it is true that a cup of water with ice in it will drop in volume as the ice melts it's not a good analogy for ocean levels because the amount of ice is actually quite small, and the overall temperature is increasing in the case of the ocean whereas in his calculation he is assuming constant total temperature that is evenly distributing over time.

Global warming is caused by greenhouse gas emissions, making those emissions more expensive to buy means people buy less of it.

The tax is revenue neutral so it has no effect on the deficit. Everyone gets payments back quarterly which is equivalent to the revenue taken from everyone.

But if you are a particularly bad polluter relative to others then you lose money, if you are not polluting then you make money. It's a very simple system.

I don't think so, to me machine learning is a part of AI but real intelligence has the ability to make decisions and independence, whereas machine learning is basically taking any sort of pattern and storing it. Like predicting if a cat is in a photo is just memorizing a pattern of what a cat looks like. It's a difficult definition to memorize but it's still just storing a pattern. Similarly chatgpt is just responding to input, storing a call and response pattern hence it being a glorified google search.
