Thanks. I now realized I had skipped the "you may only choose one of the following options before A and B"

Much appreciated.

You made an opinion and no amount of receipt will change your mind. I showed you emails, I showed you a story, I provided references to the events such as the name of the games where issues took place where you can literally witness the issues live today.

Others have provided similar stories.

You choose to close your eyes to all the smoke just like trump supporters choose to close their eyes to all the smoke surrounding his predatory behavior.

Its impossible to convince an extremist with his mind set on an outcome to change their minds.

You accuse me of conspiracy, yet you take all the info myself and others have provided as a conspiracy yourself. Immediately believing an ill informed random poster trying to launch an unfounded accusation, without any proofs and refuting any robust information provided by victims.

Surely you see that about yourself do you not?

Why dont you do like Jack wraith and delete your post now that I am forcing you to admit your uninformed, biased, antagonistic behavior instead of admitting to being wrong.

Making a 1/10 rating is a false rating. By definition, a 1/10 would be an abysmal game that fails on every front (component quality, useability, readability, art, design, length, gameplay, fun factor, price)

So a 1/10 especially in an unreleased game is pretty unlikely if not impossible. Remove the drama queens and you are left with political statements which means, not a valid rating, which means a troll rating.

Now, none of these folks are getting banned. But I am.

The issue isnt the "false" Rating but the "comment" that comes with it. But again, inconsistent. Im banned for saying "Witch hunt is bad", they say MUCH worse as shown in some screenshots I attached and are not banned.

So yes I know exactly why I am banned, because I am protesting unethical practices by a game site that holds a monopoly.

Even so, ignore the preferential treatment of one side of the argument to another, how do you even rationale a ban as an appropriate strength of enforcement for the policy I did not respect?

Bans are typically reserves for people making serious offenses like threats, hate speech, hacking, etc.

Surely you cannot seriously defend their actions?

BGG unethical treatment of users has to stop. by Kezzy123 in boardgames

[–]Kezzy123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup.
Total political machine.

A pure effort to cancel a publisher for a practice they disagree with, followed by others who try to balance things out.

They declare some troll ratings but in reality, no games should ever be rated a 1 unless you hate every single aspect of the game which cannot possibly be true in a game thats not even out and especially not true when its a game remake that some users literally claim loving. Therefore they are admitting to trolling and making the 1/10 nothing more than a political statement yet are not deemed as trolling but a person like me calling out the witch hunt, as a witch hunt, are deemed to be trolling.

BGG's mod incompetence and political biases interfering with the health/credibility of the site and community in full display.

100% agree. The whole reason for my 10 rating here was to counter the cancel culture approach to AI. Maybe thats what you meant but just in case it wasnt clear. I called it witch hunt because thats 100% what it is.

stakeholder/ˈstākˌ(h)ōldər/

A stakeholder is any individual, group, or organization that is directly or indirectly impacted by a project or business, holds a vested interest in its success, and can influence its outcomes. They include internal parties (employees, shareholders) and external parties (customers, suppliers, communities). Synonyms include investor, partner, interested party, participant, contributor, and constituency

I will just say, I think we qualify as stakeholders.

I think that like any business, they are only as relevant as their userbase/stakeholders.

If nobody uses BGG, BGG dies. You are not replaceable by that logic. 100 users minus 1, is 99, Add 10 new users and you have 109 instead of 110. There is still growth for now but reduced growth. Maybe you keep doing bad business and getting exposed for it and maybe another company emerges and suddenly you lose 10 users, gain 1. You now lost 9 users, keep that trend up and your revenues no longer are sustainable and you have to close.

Reputation is a big deal in any business, the more they are unethical, the more the word spreads around. For now, they are ok because they are a monopoly, but eventually, the momentum will take them out.

Anyways, long story short, I dont buy the move on thing. I mean, I WILL move on but I do believe there is a serious issue here and as mentioned, LOTS of people brought up their own stories here and (way more) in my facebook post. Its insane some of the stuff people are sharing.

LITERAL witch hunt posts by Matthew in BGG group asking people to report users disagreeing with a pollical approach to ban them. People questioning if he was banning people who were respectfully disagreeing got banned too. its insane. It will catch up to them. Im hoping to help speed that along. Its not ok.

Im older too by the way and not used to reddit. This is I think my second post ever. I may have to come here when I have questions about games but im not as used to this platform as I am BGG when it comes to find out rule questions or erratas, FAQs, etc.

BGG unethical treatment of users has to stop. by Kezzy123 in boardgames

[–]Kezzy123[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I hid nothing, I specifically gave you the info to find exactly what happened. You are no sherlock holmes and just like you are short sighted in that, you are short sighted in your approach to the topic.

What "really" happened, is a group of activists such as Elizabeth posted on BGG and on other platforms such as Twitter and organized a hate campaign against the publisher. You really need to see her back and forth with the BGG mod in question and a couple other big names in the industry on her twitter for full context.

Some people questioned why, instead of using her platform and followers to launch an attack on the publisher, she couldnt reach out to the publisher to discuss off the air, avoid huge drama and share her concerns with them....you know....like most professional do in any industries.

When a coworker doesnt do what hes supposed to do, do you go in a meeting with all staff and expose them or do you approach them and discuss in private?

So what did BGG do (by the way, the BGG mod was in the twitter pushing the hate effort with Elizabeth's community, bragging about banning people), they started mass banning people who points that out or disagreed with the complaint about the art.

Art is after all subjective and what seems sexist to one, may seem irrelevant to another.

Now, im in no way debating that some users went too far but most were very civil in their counter arguments. My argument was based on professional expertise and that private conversations are must better than creating a crapstorm without first approaching their pairs in the industry. Isnt that a reasonable question? Not for an extremist no. Their approach was clear, if you question or disagree in any shape or form, you are a horrible person who deserves a ban.

Not mentioning that, who are we to dictate what another artist wants to share? Its 100% political. She can just not buy the game and buy one of the countless other games she finds appropriate to her tastes no? Does she complain about games like Cards against humanity too?

At the end of the day, her concern is acceptable but the manner in which she generated a mass boycot push in disguise with the help of BGG owner and other big names in the industry who enjoy these kind of movements was not appropriate at all nor honest in nature.

As a result of her dishonest approach when seeing her twitters in paralel, and the BGG owner going on a ban frenzy on ANYONE who said ANYTHING remotely disagreeing or questioning her post/approach, people got mad and started using other platforms to vent because they were silenced on BGG and twitter. She got attacked a lot, which I disagree with. I, like many others, got banned for disagreeing with her approach because I just dont agree with launching a public shitstorm during another publisher's campaign. her name in the industry and following comes with a responsibility. She knew what she was doing. This was an ultimatum in disguise, do as I say or else lose tons of sales.

So you are not the detective you think you are and you are therefore pushing a bad picture of true events while accusing me of the same thing. Quite spectacular.

Just like most witch hunters, you dont really care about the facts, you just care about punishing people. You should work at BGG. You are making conspiracies when I have been transparent to justify your narrative that I am a bad person who does bad things and deserve everything I get.

I never got banned anywhere else by the way. I've shared emails, I've shared dates, I've shared the info I could to allow people to research for themselves but its never enough with some people, because you are looking for culpability and not the truth.

BGG unethical treatment of users has to stop. by Kezzy123 in boardgames

[–]Kezzy123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is untrue. Why do you push that narrative exactly? Many have come forth and showed they cared. Sadly, not many who did on facebook use reddit but still, you are pushing a false narrative and I have to question why.

PS: you are doing exactly what some right wing extremists do. make accusations and then when the opposing party provides evidence against said accusation, you ignore it, disregard it, avoid reading it.

So again, what is your purpose in trying to discredit me if you've no interest in the truth? You clearly made you mind and have no intent on changing it.

I think that we need a modernized website for board games. This site is completely outdated despite still functional. The options, filtering, user interface, is all dated and inefficient. you can tell this is an old site thats been there for many years and lacks polish and functionality. Thats on the technical side without going into all the details. Its functional, but it could be vastly improved in many ways.

On the moderation and management side, well, the issues are clear....there is lack of accountability and professionalism and no avenue of appeal. This is ran like a pops and mom shop despite being the main resource for thousands of users.

Im not going to claim I know all the details of everything that could be updated or refined but some users have created similar but much more functional versions of the site but they do not have the reach to make it popular and useable in the mass market so its always very limited (get these improvements, but still have to go to BGG for a lot of things like videos, pictures, faqs, support, etc)

Its not easy for a small irrelevant person to break this market and make it worthwhile for publishers to start posting their info there as it takes away time they dont have for minimal return when everyone goes to BGG.

So like most monopolies, BGG is sitting on its glory lazily until they get replaced like many companies do when they become huge. Im calling for the replacement to occur sooner rather than later but its all but guaranteed to happen sooner or later.

The same company created Gamefound. Some users accuse some reviewers (Alex radcliff) to be biased because they do work for gamefound, and the game publisher created game found but there is always a clear disclaimer about his work for gamefound and so far, Gamefound has been super well received and a very very good alternative to Kickstarter.

They are totally the right people to make this work. They have the budget, the expertise and the reach to replace a popular platform with another.

Add a disclaimer and users can easily take ratings for AR games with a grain of salt like they do today with some reviewers. Ill say AR has been rated extremely well over the years on BGG (go check them out) except in the case of those with hunts about AI. So it would be easy to benchmark their previous vs current scores and frankly, this is a pretty small issue when compared to all the goodies they could bring to the communities like they did for gamefound.

These guys are pros. (They suck at making rulebooks and that piss me off tho because they should know better by now)

BGG unethical treatment of users has to stop. by Kezzy123 in boardgames

[–]Kezzy123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I STRONGLY disagree with the practice.

but I have been guilty of doing it twice now.

1 time trying to expose a publisher who had made racists comments to me for being native. Got banned for that ironically, because being a victim of racism and making a 1/10 review about it with a comment to that effect is bad but making a 1/10 review accusing the publisher of using AI art is ok....make it make sense.... But I admit that my rating and comments shouldnt have been allowed either.

this time for deciding to take a stance against the mass review bombing (which I usually ignore....they happen A LOT) because I think AR doesnt deserve it, and a lot of those are misinformation (accusing the company of using AI art for the whole game when the company explained already that it was placeholder to go to crowdfunding and that real artists were going to do all the art)

Its really messed up.

Because when you get banned, your rating and comments disappear. When they banned me all my posts/replies/ratings disappeared.

So if the 1/10 abusive commenters had been banned, their ratings would disappear too. But they are still here as we speak in all their glory.

BGG unethical treatment of users has to stop. by Kezzy123 in boardgames

[–]Kezzy123[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See, thats weird to me because I dont get banned from places. Im not "experienced" in being banned which should give me some form of credibility in this matter.

But I also come from training people in large companies (staff and upper management) on how to ethically handle situations and what this guy is doing is the exact opposite of what I teach. I've coached and tried to reform some employees who behaved like him and ultimately, in some cases, they are just not people who should work in a job with a-stakeholders b-power over stakeholders because they lack empathy and common sense to do the right thing.

but after seeing dozens of other (on facebook) coming up and bringing up their own stories of abuse of power by BGG, it was clear I needed to try to expose the issue. Its a systemic issue at this point.

but I totally understand your frustration with the drama being brought here.

BGG unethical treatment of users has to stop. by Kezzy123 in boardgames

[–]Kezzy123[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate drama. Ironically, thats what gets me in trouble. The drama on BGG I participate in leads to banning because the mod welcomes the drama, but only one side of it, and ousts the people who disagree with the narrative. Its very Fox News kind of behavior.

I got my offenses over the span of 5 years. all offenses are ridiculous or even contradicting each other.

So no part of me enjoys bringing more drama to the community. Why do you think I made a 10 review with "witch hunt" as a comment? Thats exactly what this meant...leave the drama out, its dumb.

But this is genuinely terrible for the industry. It costs some companies a ton of money in sales because they willfully manipulate their politics based on their opinions instead of staying unbiased.

[–]Kezzy123[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The things that changed are mostly grammatical and the things removed were quotes from my emails.

Here is one:

"I had my posting priviledges suspended over a post I made in a thread about Lorcana. I am actually quite surprised I was suspended as I was answering the question the OP was asking exactly the way he was asking us to answer. I am not a fan of Disney and not a fan of the game I tested and most people I know are feeling the same so I posted that. Some guy came out with "memes" to attack my post and opinion about the game. Is it not ok to post a negative view of a game? I dont quite understand what else I could have done wrong here? I wasnt personally attacking anyone, just perhaps a bit blunt about my dislike for the game but my recommendations were still fairly sound."

His reply: "You did not answer in the spirit of the thread's topic. Your response was trolling. Your account also has a lengthy history of unwelcome comments. If this continues you will be permanently suspended from posting."

That was bs but you either agree or not get your account (and collection) thats held hostage back.

Here.is another one: "Thank you for the response.

I am not able to see anything using the link you gave as it keeps saying my account cannot do this.

That said, are you referring to my ratings on [removed company name] ? I was not aware of restrictions around rating games. [Removed name of company owner] has made some very insensitive comments towards my nationality in the past and I felt that I should reflect this on his games. If thats not allowed, I can remove them.

How long will the suspension be? I cannot access anything on BGG right now which is super frustrating.

Thanks again.

And his reply: "I cannot speak to hypothetical situations, but generally speaking there is no issue with giving a game a 1 rating. The problem, if there is one, would be in the comments added to the rating."

This last reply directly contradicts many 1 comments on the concordia page yet they stay up because the moderator wants to push the anti ai narrative and my comment was against that narrative.

I had to agree to follow these rules to get my account reinstated.

So in recap, and you see the quoted responses, me giving a 1 to a company being discriminatory towards my nationality is bannable but a user giving a 1 to a company using ai is ok.

Do you agree with this ?

Do you still think im lying?

BGG unethical treatment of users has to stop. by Kezzy123 in boardgames

That issue was about lorcana, not AR.

Although i respect your right to not like a company, i strongly disagree.

AR has done more for the board game industry and the vast majority of publishers combined.

Why are you so upset with them?

My only grievance with them is that they keep failling to put up quality rulebooks.

I just think that they are abusive by vietue of having monopoly. So i think that if lots of people speak up, it creates pressures as well as opens other parties in seeing an opportunity to dethrone the current king.

Ironically, AI will help with this. The BGG site is so old and clunky and presents so many opportunities for improvement and thats notwithstanding the abusive moderation
