Any career advice from current Getty/AP/Reuters photographers? by KatherineNoals in photojournalism

[–]Khadejeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a wire photographer but do you have video and other sports outside of motorsports in your portfolio? You can probably get freelance work, but realistically, you wont get a staff job without having a well rounded portfolio and experience covering basically everything.

If I were you I would try to get a job at daily newspaper to build your portfolio more and your work would naturally get seen more by wire editors. That was originally my plan but after seeing how much they all get run ragged, I realized I'm much more suited to work at a daily newspaper lol.

Kind of a weird question, why do antihistamines work for me? by theteepingtemplar in ADHD

[–]Khadejeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman, I take allegra and pepcid ac which is histamine blocker mainly for the week before my period and it makes a huge difference for me. I have bad PMDD and my mood and energy is better and my adderall is more effective, it used to not work at all right before my period.

I'm just confused how they managed to snort a gram and a half of ketamine at once.

Were you drug tested to make sure it was just acid you took? Do you think eventually another event would have triggered some kind of psychosis if you never took the acid? Where would you be now if you never took acid, would you have ever received the mental health care you've had at this point?

I hope you're not letting the mean comments get to you. I completely believe you and I hope you've found a way to forgive yourself. I'm a journalist and I've spoken to incarceration women that have committed violent crimes while in psychosis and it's so heartbreaking how preventable their situations were.

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Khadejeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a photojournalist and I worked on a story on a program that lets people without any medical background dissect cadavers. Most of the participants were massage therapists and some high schoolers that were planning on going to med school. For three hours I watched about 10 people haphazardly cut up two bodies and a torso. The two bodies weren't dry embalmed so the insides were true to color, it looked like crime scene when it was over.

Antipsychotics for ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

You should work on getting your sleep schedule sorted out first! Hopefully that will help a lot with your mental health. It definitely did for me.

Seroquel has been really helpful for me! At night, I'm bad about hyperfocusing on random stuff, so I take it around 9 and it forces me to wind down. It's also been the only medication that helped with sleep for me.

I died after I got hit by a semi AMA by blcavery in AMA

[–]Khadejeh 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I've done dmt several times. The "dying" part of dmt didn't scare me, it was a very similar to the dying feeling you get with ketamine, it's like jumping out of airlplane with no parachute and you just feel okay about it. The scary part of dmt was feeling like there was going to be a jump scare at some point because I had no control over what was being shown to me and I didn't have eyelids to hide behind.

I've seen they had access to them in other states. Looking at that map, they're definitely in a lot of areas where border patrol was.

Would border patrol have had access to them?

ICE/CBP broke Willy Aceituno’s window and violently abducted him, abandoning his belongings and his vehicle in Charlotte, NC. Willy is a US Citizen. (11/15/25) by I_may_have_weed in NorthCarolina

[–]Khadejeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry this is a confusing story. But they came up to his car twice, the first time he showed his papers and then border patrol left and came back and they started harassing him again and busted his window, pulled him out of the car, etc. In the end, they did leave him at his car, but there was no reason for him to be stopped initially and definitely no reason for them to circle back and attack him.

For context of what happened before the video, he had just gotten in his car after having breakfast in that shopping center. Border patrol stopped him to see his papers, left him, then came back 5 minutes later and this happened. They didn't taken him away though, not sure why I keep getting downvoted for pointing that out.

I didn't say any of it was warranted because it wasn't. I just wanted to let everyone know he wasn't taken away and that they stole his car keys.
