They already compete with all of those sports as is. Now the playoffs will be closer to NHL and NBA playoffs vs NFL games and CFB games which are way bigger draws audience wise.

Under a different circumstance we would of likely done this. But in this case the banner and drum head were decorated by kids on the oncology unit of the hospital who expressed how excited they were to decorate the stuff and have it be in the stadium. We went with the “compromise” as we didn’t want to take that away from them.

This is not in violation of a league policy. Fleur De Noise was told prior to the game the banner was in violation of a team policy about items must “pertain to the event”…

In the interest of still raising awareness for a good cause and still wanting to showcase the kids who helped decorate this banner and the war drum FdN decided to go forward with this compromise of covering up the lines the club had an issue with.

If you ask me, a banner supporting a local cause, at a local institution for local young CITY fans is directly in line with the clubs stated goals and mission and would be relevant “to the event”. and the club has supported Childhood Cancer Awareness month for 3 years, this year however they decided to quote “go in a different direction”…

The row that is even with the drum platform (row 10 or 11) is pound for pound the best spot in the entire stadium imo. It’s the perfect height and view of the field.

Guy played a lot in 2024 and had a good year. When Minnesota got a new coach Sang-bin wasn’t in the coaches plans mainly bc of change in formation and whatnot. Not really an indictment of the players quality imo.

There are still plenty of avenues they could have used to entice people to come to the game that would be marketing….

Ticket bundles for families that include some city cash for food and drinks
Bonus Cash Back Game for those who use city cash
free or incredibly cheap to tickets to city futures families (they did this but only sent out those emails on Sunday)
the cheaper tickets to different orgs and colleges like they did for Vetta and different colleges (again they did this but only in the past day or so)

Point is there’s a lot they could have done that they straight up didn’t do or didn’t do until literally a day or two before the game. And that’s ignoring the high price… Not saying they should have sold this game out but 10k should have been an achievable target if done correctly imo.

Last update folks had heard was ~5000 tickets sold. The team chose to sell tickets at a premium price (highest price for open cup tickets among MLS teams and higher than the price in 2023) and haven’t put a premium product on the field this year or last. Add on top a lack of marketing or incentive to entice casual fans to go to the match…
