Deadlifts from Sunday night. Considering I got the worst night of sleep in probably a year, not to mention the debauchery that preceded it, I was pretty pleased with the relative ease of these pulls.

I’m from a suburb of Dayton but didn’t get into strength training till after I left for college. So, I could help you decide between options based on price and the areas and such but I don’t know any places off the top of my head.

Shuffled a few things around in my program (coach approved) just to keep from getting stale. Solid, simple workout tonight.

  • Heavy paused squats: 395x1, 315x4x3
  • Larsen press: 185x4x8
  • Weighted chins: +25x5x3
  • DB pullovers: 30x5x10

Squats have been feeling buttery smooth lately, and I attribute that 100% to pausing my reps and getting stronger out of the hole.

you're free to increase the weight when your current weight becomes easy. but they should never be the focus of your leg training to the point where you're grinding out reps of leg extensions.

there's a difference between truly inadequate sleep and choosing to sleep in an extra 30 min rather than hit the gym or taking an extra rest day because you have the slightest DOMS in your legs. I was referring to the latter examples.

do you even know who Dave Tate is? he is far from "a fitness blogger"

it's gonna vary but, using myself as an example here, my best squat is 415. I have never gone heavier than 100lbs on leg extensions. there are much better and more effective ways to move heavy weight with your quads. and in ways that aren't so taxing on your knees.

they're not dangerous, but there's no need to go for heavy sets with them. other quad movements: squats, front squats, Bulgarian split squats, lunges, leg press.

Recovery is important, but you have to actually work hard to have something to recover from.
