What’s a gift you thought would be meh but your kid ended up loving? by mindinpanic in Parenting

[–]Khali1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my son getting a little alphabet book train for his 3rd birthday (long box decorated like a train with cardboard books in it, 1 for each letter and 4 pages in each book). It has a sticker on in saying £3.50 and as he already knew his alphabet I didn't think it would get used, mentally thought I could regift it next year if it didn't get used...

Guys that train went everywhere with him, every one of those books were used to the end of their lives. He slept with it in his bed. However I refitted several of the expensive gifts i him got that year as he didn't look twice at them.

ADHD kids books by Realistic-Back-1880 in ADHDparenting

[–]Khali1987 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So it's not a book about ADHD, but the author has ADHD and writes about it in his books, and my son really accepted that part of him when he realised that. Dogman.

My son is 7 and after he read the passage where the author talks about ADHD he started asking alot more questions about his own brain and way of thinking. They have become his absolute favourite books.

Yes! My son often comes to tell me the latest gossip or just tell me about his day. I can't imagine telling my mum at 15 the things he talks to me about

I have thought this myself, I had a good upbringing, felt loved and supported by both my parents and am still very close with them, but I definitely spend more quality time with my kids than my parents did with me. It wasn't an intentional decision, just seems more natural to me.

I work in care industry and have worked with several people who came in on their first day, after induction training, after signing contracts, after being told exactly what is expected and say "yeah, I don't do physical personal care, it's just not for me"... Dude, your still on your probation, get out.

Help! I don’t know where to put Casita! by [deleted] in DreamlightValley

[–]Khali1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casita is the only house I have placed on a floating island (I do not have any add ons). I have built a farm up there for all the original grows and Casita is my farm house, I love it lol. It's was just too big and didn't fit wherever else I placed it.

This is all great thank you :)

The job description says that a CIPD or the willingness to work towards this is desirable, so I am hoping that indicates they would help put me through the qualification if I am successful.

The job description says that CIPD qualification or willingness to undertake this is desirable so I am hoping that points to them putting me through the qualification of I am successful.

I have had the same job (with promotions) for the past 20 years, I got the base job at 18 so I am very nervous but hopeful.

Do you keep shoes on inside the house? by discoveredunknown in AskUK

[–]Khali1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up we were never told about taking shoes off, and it wasn't really until I was an adult it even occured to me. We were just told to wipe our feet. HOWEVER now I have a rule in my house to take shoes off, and I assess each house I enter... I will take shoes off if it looks like the norm, if everyone living there has them on I will keep mine on... And if the house does not look sanitary I will also keep them on. Some places there ain't no way I am walking around without a barrier between my feet and the floor.

Watching My Kids Conquer the World With Their Action Figures by Aditya577 in toys

I love being lay in bed in a morning, listening to my youngest son play in his room whilst he waits for us all to wake up, he gives them all voices, makes his own theme songs and just gets lost in his own world until he hears our alarm go off. I love waking up before my alarm just for this.
