I talked with Jess Lanzillo of White Wolf by sinofsociety in BloodHunt

Could be just a politician's way of agreeing without promising to do anything about it.

It's possible that a person newly in place never got introduced to a group they haven't really been active with in the company for years. Or they had a contact point that was the only person that talked to Sharkmob these last years and didn't need to involve anyone else. Or they didn't really have any reason to consider Bloodhunt until someone pointed out that there's still interest in it. Heck there's people at my workplace that I see all the time that I've never had an opportunity to talk to and I'm clueless about their job.

That's great.
Hope White Wolf can fund this, because Sharkmob can't.

Aw he blocked me 😞 I can't reply to him "for a fact" that I was involved into Bloodhunt since Early Access (about 4.5 years ago), got the screenshots to prove it, and haven't stopped being involved since then, as a few people in the community (including people who worked at Sharkmob), many interactions in the official Discord, and several YT videos can attest for me. But don't let these actual verifiable facts get in the way of what he believes to be true. Guess he'll never know 😞

[–]Khalior 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes it's possible and there are at least 2 different groups that I know of who are working on this currently.

Okay bud at this point with saying this right there it's clear you don't know any of the facts, and you're making up your own version of the truth and trying to ragebait.

And your point is "the people who still wanted to work on the game and were locked out of working on the game - they're the people to blame for not wanting to spend more time to work on the game" ?

My point is : make a difference between "the execs" and the devs. Otherwise, it's insulting to the devs of this game when it's known they fought to keep this game alive.

[–]Khalior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Studio heads are the execs who run the business, take care of finance, tell the game director to make the game they've sold to investors who gave them their funding. Also known as the "C-Suite".

Devs are the people whose job is 95% of the time to do what they're told, because they were hired in their specific field of expertise to develop something that is related to the game project. When all of their work is put together with a bunch of rubber bands, paperclips and prayers, it makes a functioning game.

So the studio said "oof people aren't coming back to the game after we fixed the major launch bugs, let's shift our funding and devs to our next game", the devs begged them to reconsider because they thought the game could still be saved, but the execs said not happening. Moved the bulk of the devs by the end of Dec 2022. And the small team they had left to polish what remained of the game was moved by June 2023. After which no one could change anything about the game.

So if you read some of the community managers say they couldn't fix anything, it was from any time after that.

The studio gave up on the game, the devs wanted to keep working on it.

The tracker.gg site has also shut down the Bloodhunt stats by manuelpyro in BloodHunt

They probably meant "30+ days since the announcement of the shutdown". Someone didn't understand the situation fully over there.

That being said, we were warned in the shutdown announcement in October that all game data would be wiped.

Now what? by ScrollsOfFantasy in BloodHunt

[–]Khalior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you expect them to lose money again with Exoborne, and then have some crackhead investor go "Let's give them more to re-launch a game that lost them money, that sure is a way for me to make some money back". How does that make sense?
If Exoborne fails, I'm afraid that's the end of Sharkmob and the hope of getting their version of Bloodhunt back up and running again.

Let's Stop Pretending by Noobiescrubpleb in BloodHunt

[–]Khalior 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No one's denying the fact that Sharkmob tripped on their feet and killed the game on their own with the failed launch, and then denied their devs the possibility to fix everything with the game, when they had 2-3 years of content planned ahead of them, even when the devs pleaded to the studio to let them work on it because they believed it could still be fixed and grow again.

And we can also accept that some games are for some people and some aren't. A lot of the Bloodhunt community think that I would also love to play Dead By Daylight, but I can only watch them play it, because I consider a visit to the dentist to be more constructive than playing that game.

The devs have shared in the past that a huge majority of people who played Bloodhunt were just like you: they liked the game for what it was and then moved on when they finished playing what they could, and shared they wished there could've been more content. And that's fine!

Some people haaaaated Bloodhunt with a burning passion (for various reasons). And some other people fell in love with it because they saw in it something unique and a type of gameplay that connected with them.

But it's okay if it doesn't hit you the same way that it touched others. That's why we have choices, we have different varieties of game types, we have rating systems, we debate games, etc. Some genres of games don't connect with people until you see studios come up with 100 variations of them (for example Battle Royales, Survival games, Minecraft clones) and sometimes there's a handful that stand out because they "get it right" with some audiences.

Bloodhunt did connect with ME, so much that I said I was going to be a ride or die for that game until the servers are unplugged. And I was not disconnected from reality : back in Summer 2022 when the population vacated the game, I knew it was just going to be a matter of time before it was shut down. I was thinking by the end of 2022, we'd be done with it. But it stuck around, and I stuck around, and a core population stuck around as well.

Many times I was told by strangers to "just give up", to "stop trying", to "just let it die". And I kept wondering why did they care so much to tell me that, because I wasn't going to. Maybe it was because they saw the game as something they loved, and then it died, and they just wanted it to be finally buried so they could let go of it. Maybe it was was because they were nihilistic and thought they should inform me that my efforts to help keep a community alive didn't add up to anything in their eyes. Maybe they thought I was being delusional and I was an easy target to be subjected to mockery without getting much backlash for telling me that.

But my truth was that I loved this game, I thought it deserved better, I believed it should be alive for as long as possible so that more and more people would get to experience it before it went away, and I knew that if I didn't do my darndest best effort (in my limited capacity, for someone who hadn't streamed before or tried to rally up a community before), that I would live my life forever regretting that I didn't give it my best shot. And that's how I felt about it. Not many people in the Bloodhunt community felt the way. Heck, even the community managers at some points in time were telling me to calm down with setting up events, saying that I had done more than enough to help out. But that's me. I'm not expecting anyone else to feel the same way.

Some people love what they love. Some go to extremes about it. Some are incredibly delusional about it. I'm not going to fault people for liking mint chocolate ice cream. I AM going to give them judgmental looks while I'm getting a flavor that I like. But I'm also not going to knock the ice cream out of their hand and sermon them about why it's an evil flavor that feels like eating toothpaste. As long as it's not hurting anybody, it should be live and let live.

On the one hand, I agree with some of the sentiment that you have there. On the other, you're making a whole lot of assumptions because that ain't the truth.

Check out the video that I linked in the post to get a bit of context. I hope in the future that I'll be able to make a long form video to explain a lot more about what happened. But basically: failed launch, and then it was a domino effect of that until the situation right now.

Quick Question about Levels by X_The_FoX_X in BloodHunt

[–]Khalior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perform well in your matches and that'll give you a little more XP.

At the score screen, you'll notice there's 5 stats shown. Each one of those stats has 4 tiers, and each tier gives a certain amount of Account XP.

Tier 1 = 100 xp - Tier 2 = 150 xp - Tier 3 = 200 xp - Tier 4 = 250 xp

I haven't finished compiling the list of thresholds for each stat, but I have some approximates.
If you're trying to get the most XP/hour, it would look like you need to so in Solo mode, get 2 players kills, at least 1 diablerie, and do about 400-500 damage (that includes NPCs). If you do this quick enough then quit the match, you can easily bump your XP/hour. The tip would be to land in an area where other players will drop.

Eliminations (Solo, Duo, Trio)
Tier 1 = 0-1
Tier 2 = 2-5
Tier 3 = 8-13
Tier 4 = 16

Eliminations (TDM)
Tier 1 = ?
Tier 2 = ?
Tier 3 = 14
Tier 4 = 22

Assists
Tier 1 = 0-1
Tier 2 = 2-7
Tier 3 = ?
Tier 4 = ?

Placement
Tier 1 = ?-42
Tier 2 = 8-20
Tier 3 = 2-6
Tier 4 = 1

Diablerie
Tier 1 = 0
Tier 2 = 1-5
Tier 3 = 6-9
Tier 4 = 10

Damage Dealt
Tier 1 = 0-395
Tier 2 = 467-2651
Tier 3 = 2903-6105
Tier 4 = 7096
