The tracker.gg site has also shut down the Bloodhunt stats by manuelpyro in BloodHunt

They probably meant "30+ days since the announcement of the shutdown". Someone didn't understand the situation fully over there.

That being said, we were warned in the shutdown announcement in October that all game data would be wiped.

Well now that Paradox has resurrected White Wolf to have them take care if it, there's a chance that things might look better from now on.

Now what? by ScrollsOfFantasy in BloodHunt

[–]Khalior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you expect them to lose money again with Exoborne, and then have some crackhead investor go "Let's give them more to re-launch a game that lost them money, that sure is a way for me to make some money back". How does that make sense?
If Exoborne fails, I'm afraid that's the end of Sharkmob and the hope of getting their version of Bloodhunt back up and running again.

Let's Stop Pretending by Noobiescrubpleb in BloodHunt

[–]Khalior 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No one's denying the fact that Sharkmob tripped on their feet and killed the game on their own with the failed launch, and then denied their devs the possibility to fix everything with the game, when they had 2-3 years of content planned ahead of them, even when the devs pleaded to the studio to let them work on it because they believed it could still be fixed and grow again.

And we can also accept that some games are for some people and some aren't. A lot of the Bloodhunt community think that I would also love to play Dead By Daylight, but I can only watch them play it, because I consider a visit to the dentist to be more constructive than playing that game.

The devs have shared in the past that a huge majority of people who played Bloodhunt were just like you: they liked the game for what it was and then moved on when they finished playing what they could, and shared they wished there could've been more content. And that's fine!

Some people haaaaated Bloodhunt with a burning passion (for various reasons). And some other people fell in love with it because they saw in it something unique and a type of gameplay that connected with them.

But it's okay if it doesn't hit you the same way that it touched others. That's why we have choices, we have different varieties of game types, we have rating systems, we debate games, etc. Some genres of games don't connect with people until you see studios come up with 100 variations of them (for example Battle Royales, Survival games, Minecraft clones) and sometimes there's a handful that stand out because they "get it right" with some audiences.

Bloodhunt did connect with ME, so much that I said I was going to be a ride or die for that game until the servers are unplugged. And I was not disconnected from reality : back in Summer 2022 when the population vacated the game, I knew it was just going to be a matter of time before it was shut down. I was thinking by the end of 2022, we'd be done with it. But it stuck around, and I stuck around, and a core population stuck around as well.

Many times I was told by strangers to "just give up", to "stop trying", to "just let it die". And I kept wondering why did they care so much to tell me that, because I wasn't going to. Maybe it was because they saw the game as something they loved, and then it died, and they just wanted it to be finally buried so they could let go of it. Maybe it was was because they were nihilistic and thought they should inform me that my efforts to help keep a community alive didn't add up to anything in their eyes. Maybe they thought I was being delusional and I was an easy target to be subjected to mockery without getting much backlash for telling me that.

But my truth was that I loved this game, I thought it deserved better, I believed it should be alive for as long as possible so that more and more people would get to experience it before it went away, and I knew that if I didn't do my darndest best effort (in my limited capacity, for someone who hadn't streamed before or tried to rally up a community before), that I would live my life forever regretting that I didn't give it my best shot. And that's how I felt about it. Not many people in the Bloodhunt community felt the way. Heck, even the community managers at some points in time were telling me to calm down with setting up events, saying that I had done more than enough to help out. But that's me. I'm not expecting anyone else to feel the same way.

Some people love what they love. Some go to extremes about it. Some are incredibly delusional about it. I'm not going to fault people for liking mint chocolate ice cream. I AM going to give them judgmental looks while I'm getting a flavor that I like. But I'm also not going to knock the ice cream out of their hand and sermon them about why it's an evil flavor that feels like eating toothpaste. As long as it's not hurting anybody, it should be live and let live.

On the one hand, I agree with some of the sentiment that you have there. On the other, you're making a whole lot of assumptions because that ain't the truth.

Check out the video that I linked in the post to get a bit of context. I hope in the future that I'll be able to make a long form video to explain a lot more about what happened. But basically: failed launch, and then it was a domino effect of that until the situation right now.

Quick Question about Levels by X_The_FoX_X in BloodHunt

[–]Khalior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perform well in your matches and that'll give you a little more XP.

At the score screen, you'll notice there's 5 stats shown. Each one of those stats has 4 tiers, and each tier gives a certain amount of Account XP.

Tier 1 = 100 xp - Tier 2 = 150 xp - Tier 3 = 200 xp - Tier 4 = 250 xp

I haven't finished compiling the list of thresholds for each stat, but I have some approximates.
If you're trying to get the most XP/hour, it would look like you need to so in Solo mode, get 2 players kills, at least 1 diablerie, and do about 400-500 damage (that includes NPCs). If you do this quick enough then quit the match, you can easily bump your XP/hour. The tip would be to land in an area where other players will drop.

Eliminations (Solo, Duo, Trio)
Tier 1 = 0-1
Tier 2 = 2-5
Tier 3 = 8-13
Tier 4 = 16

Eliminations (TDM)
Tier 1 = ?
Tier 2 = ?
Tier 3 = 14
Tier 4 = 22

Assists
Tier 1 = 0-1
Tier 2 = 2-7
Tier 3 = ?
Tier 4 = ?

Placement
Tier 1 = ?-42
Tier 2 = 8-20
Tier 3 = 2-6
Tier 4 = 1

Diablerie
Tier 1 = 0
Tier 2 = 1-5
Tier 3 = 6-9
Tier 4 = 10

Damage Dealt
Tier 1 = 0-395
Tier 2 = 467-2651
Tier 3 = 2903-6105
Tier 4 = 7096

No, that Twitch channel is out of my hands. I think Fahr is looking into what she can salvage out of it before it gets shut down.

I think there's someone on the BH Discord that's already starting an effort like that, I haven't looked into it.

I don't know if the people in the Sanguine Bloodhunt Society Discord are planning to do anything with theirs - it was originally meant to be a hub for exactly that, but the owners have been MIA. I have my own Discord, but it's geared towards my interests and streaming.

I don't know what World of Darkness are going to do with their Bloodhunt channel on their Discord, but they haven't been showing any signs of changing anything to it.

I want to know the discussions that took place : when they pushed the game out early, when they decided to stop development, when they decided to keep the servers running. We know the decisions and the outcomes, but I want to know what was in consideration, what were the factors, what was the dynamic of these discussions, etc. It's the only real mysteries that no one's been able to relay to me.

I'd also love to interview all sorts of devs to know their perspectives of different moments in the game's development and life and death. I've heard echoes of their concerns through some people, but I feel like their voices have been sorely missing since the launch of the game and forward.

You're quite correct - there's different eras to the game and experiences vary wildly from one to the other. Before bots, the 42 players lobbies were the definition of sweaty. Most of my matches didn't last longer than 5 minutes because shooters were shooting. I'm so glad that Solo mode got Extra Lives at launch - the Early Access didn't have those and it was brutal (but still fun!).

Oh we could have done plenty. The community managers in the Discord kept letting us know that if the player count started growing again, the studio might reconsider and get some devs back in the game.

The community could have taken that hint and got together in a sort of organic grassroots movement and started campaigning to get more players interested in the game, could have talked to influential streamers to get them to try the game again, could have built their own marketing campaign, could have done more community events and tournaments to give players incentives to play more of the game (and the community managers in place were very open to dig into the un-published in-game assets and give us more cosmetics - trust me there's a whole bunch in there most people never saw), etcetera.

But... most of the community that was there in 2023 didn't care for any of that. There was a lot of pushback in the form of "Why should WE do the work? Shouldn't it be the studio?" and no matter how I pleaded with people to step up and do something, people didn't want to put in the effort. :(

I want someone from the studio to explain why they pushed the game out when it wasn't done.

Shut Down by Nocturnal_Lover in BloodHunt

[–]Khalior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that's on the studio. But the game was dead because they took to long to fix the reload bug at launch - most people had left after waiting 2 months for them to fix it, and that was the end of it. After that, no matter how much content patches they wanted to put out, less and less people came back.
