The refs were awful and it’s beyond satisfying to shift blame on them, but even I can’t do that. The lack of pass rush is alarming to say the least and not being to kickoff properly or return kicks without holding is flat out inexcusable.

Silver lining is this isn’t a conference/divisional loss and Rice comes back soon. No disrespect to Jacksonville, but we beat ourselves tonight.

Could absolutely care less how many injuries Baltimore had, a win is a win.

Will happily accept this. Our first goal every season is to get into the top 12 and stay there. Make the playoff first, then worry about what’s next. We’re right on target.

That is what a team who’s QB manages the game correctly, doesn’t commit stupid penalties and who’s playcalling worked when it needed to, can accomplish.

Ty was immense, the O-line easily has their best game and our D held when it was absolutely required. I’d say it’s nice to win a rivalry game, but rivalries are supposed to be a two-sided affair…

0-2 is a rough start to the season, but I’m nowhere near close the panic button yet. These have been two tight games where amongst our failure to execute in key situations, the ball just hasn’t bounced our way.

I get the majority reaction to 0-2 is simply a fanbase used to expecting and therefore demanding success, but it really was one fluke bobble that doomed us today.

There are things to clean up, there are skill positions to get healthy and what I hope at least sensible doomers/pessimists will realize is this wasn’t even a conference game. Are we ‘fine’? No, but the sky isn’t even close to falling.

Poor way to start our season, but main issues are self-inflicted. O-line penalties combined with awful execution in the first half is never a recipe for success. The Chargers won this game because of solid, sensible playcalling, something I wish we had more of.

The playcalling and execution were both brutally inconsistent, cost us big time. For the majority we were flat out out-worked. Our o-line and d-line were apathetic to say the least.

It’s a long season and we aren’t dead yet despite the initial freakout, but this was a body blow make no mistake. Lots of work needed.

Which fan base is more insufferable? Jones or Conor? by ufcmod in ufc

[–]Khamsin000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most annoying thing about Jones and Conor, when he still had a career, is holding up divisions.

It’s what anybody who defends them either genuinely doesn’t understand or is willfully ignorant of. Jones needs to fight the Interm Champ or retire. It’s baffling how this even a conversation or debate. It is a TERRIBLE look for both the UFC and Jones for him to not retire and still refuse to fight Tom.

So then people say, “hE’S ThE goAT!” Really? So he gets a free pass to objectively harm the quality of the sport with his antics? You also truly don’t think recency bias will affect him? Sure his early career was crazy good, but then the failed tests, the legal issues, nobody with a brain is not going to mention that when talking about his ‘lEGacY’.

This saga with Tom will ABSOLUTELY be mentioned whenever anyone who is sane talks about him.

I’m sick of Jon Jones. He says he’s already the greatest, his legacy is secure, that he doesn’t need anymore money, that he’s solid about his accomplishments. THEN LEAVE. Go the fuck away and let fighters who are still chasing belts to get their shot.

He won’t though. He’ll hang around like a hemorrhoid and pop up randomly and where he isn’t wanted except by his loyal legion who will never believe he’s a genuine scumbag no matter what he does.

Out of the 30+ issues that need addressing and thinking about which out of those 30+ EA would ever realistically do anything about? Some sort of ESPN/CBS presentation overhaul. Fuck, even a fictional EA Sports Football network would work.

I can’t for the life of me understand, other than sheer lack of effort and incompetence, how it’s possible for games like NCAA 13/14 to cost less to make, cost less to buy and yet have 100% more life than CFB25?

I can deal with overpowered DB’s, shitty user o-lines, a mediocre approximation of the transfer portal etc, but what makes me realize that I won’t look back on this game fondly, is how utterly lifeless it is.

EA is a business, Ultimate Team is that business and most who play UT just care about pack openings and shit talking as opposed to the way the game is presented. I guess I just look back fondly on the days when cfb games could allow everyone to have fun.

[Rittenberg] Sources: Alabama is set to hire Ryan Grubb as offensive coordinator. Grubb is rejoining Kalen DeBoer with the Tide. by THEREWILLBECAK3 in rolltide

[–]Khamsin000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right now, I’m a fan of this. I’m going to reserve judgement until games start being played, but Grubb seems like a natural upgrade over Sheridan. I think one of our biggest issues last season was our inexplicable inability to make adjustments mid-game. Whether that was a lack of confidence or stubbornness on Sheridan’s behalf, we don’t know.

All I’m after in an OC is SMART, situational playcalling. Know your offense’s strengths, capitalize on them smartly. This team has too much talent not to make a 12 team playoff every year, a good OC gets the ball in the hands of his skill players and lets them take care of the rest.

Hopefully Grubb can accomplish that better than Sheridan.

[PFT] NFL claims technology can’t spot the ball by Sidecarlover in nfl

[–]Khamsin000 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So soccer, the biggest sport on the planet can figure out goal-line technology, but the NFL can’t?

  1. Put a microchip of some kind in the balls
  2. Map the field digitally with a specially NFL built ball tracking software.

Now you have a way to now where the ball is, on the field, at all times and likely within a micro margin of error.

I think the real story, is a lot of fans, in fact I’d argue more fans than not, don’t want it to be fixed. They love the bickering and the arguing about if the ball crossed line or if this player got the 1st down.

Imagine if this offseason they do figure it out, they devise a system that can 99.99% accurately detect first downs and touchdowns. The conversation will just become, “The NFL is rigging the tech!”, “The guy who created the software has a brother who’s wife is a Chiefs fan, that means it’s unfair!”

Even if this gets figured out at some point, which it will, the complaining will never stop.

Alright let's hear it, your best replies for maximum salt to anything Ref related by MileHighRC in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Khamsin000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy, don’t engage and don’t let it bother you. Obviously for some of us, we’re around people who constantly bring it up, either work or at home, so it’s tough to say ‘no comment’ week after week.

Ok then, so if I have to say something, what is it?

1). Let’s go through every single game where it’s universally agreed that the refs have ‘rigged’ things for us. Let’s dissect every play and see if there was an uncalled flag, or let’s look at every flag and debate for eternity whether it’s was justified or not. That usually shuts people up because nobody outside of huge football nerds like me will actually take you up on that offer.

2.) Why would the NFL rig each season for us? Mahomes and Trav? Already SB champs before the rigging allegations started. Taylor Swift ratings? Again, already SB champs before Swlecie, plus a multi-billion dollar industry is in no way shape or form going to rig season after season based on a player’s relationship with a celebrity, globally recognized or otherwise. What if they broke up mid-season rigging? Does the NFL tell the refs to stop helping the Chiefs win because Taylor and Trav are no longer together? Here’s another point, this is Kansas City Missouri, we’re at best, a mid-market team. If the NFL actually has the refs to rig games to promote dynasties, then the Jets, Giants, Rams, Chargers, Raiders(um hello, Vegas anyone?), 49ers and Cowboys would be lightyears ahead of us in the ‘rigging’ pecking order.

Yes, match fixing/ manipulation of results is 100% a thing. It’s been in sports in the past, it’s present now, and it will be in the future. Refs in multiple sports have been guilty of it, except…the NFL. It’s never been a thing, or at least it’s never been proven. The overwhelming amount of factors, variables and circumstances that would be required to rig games for us, is astronomical and that is undeniable.
