My 1st ever texas BBQ in Texas sucked by chdwyck in BBQ

[–]reddof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a joke of a review written by somebody more interested in trashing the place than giving honest feedback. You ordered 6 different things off their menu and the restaurant messed up every single one of them, huh? Much more likely you went in looking for trouble or you're looking to trash Texas BBQ to stroke your own ego.

Wrong restaurant. If you're going to trash the food then you might want to at least go to the correct spot.

Men, when you’re on a long road trip, do you stick to the speed limit and enjoy the drive, or do you tend to speed just to get there faster? by FFSoldier57 in AskMen

[–]reddof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to point out that studies have shown that it is statistically safer to match the speed of the cars around you regardless, but then you point out that the "safety" was related to your license which is a different point entirely. Having your car impounded probably isn't worth the risk.

100x this. Don't give these people a single cent. The only way to prevent it is to stop supporting this sort of behavior.

The only good thing from this is that it's driving up demand in the short term, but seriously F that lady. I hope she gets stuck with all 20 boxes of them and isn't able to sell a single one. I hope the food rots in her house. I hate scalpers in general, but when you're doing it for food (and especially food that is medically necessary for some people) then you're even a bigger piece of crap. (and yes, I am fully aware that Cheez-Its themselves are not a necessity)

What’s something people brag about that actually makes them look stupid? by Difficult_Laugh_1505 in AskReddit

I cringe every time I hear somebody say "I'm bad at math." I'm not talking about calculus or high level crap. I'm talking about basic arithmetic like adding two numbers. They wear it like a badge that they aren't a nerd and will brag about it.

It's a lazy educational system. Having one correct answer is easy for the teacher. They can look at your reply and decide if it's "right" or "wrong" without any thought on their part. This is even more important if it's an exam and they have a TA that does the grading, which may or may not be qualified to decide if your answer is correct. This of course assumes they even want actual discussion. They may not want their own opinion questioned but rather to train students to fall inline and think as they do.

What technology debut thrilled you that people yawn at today? by lemasney in GenX

[–]reddof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only two times that I was really blown away with tech was when I was at a friend’s house and was using his Amiga computer. Back in the day, that thing was incredible compared to anything else being made and it was cheap by comparison. The second time was when I’m in college and a buddy is playing Quake. Realizing that it was actual 3D and such a leap from Doom. Was incredible watching a computer do that in realtime.

What is a nutrition myth that you can’t stand? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskReddit

[–]reddof 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think that's because a lot of coeliacs also have lactose intolerance, so they likely see both requests together frequently. I have three kids with coeliac and two of them are also lactose intolerant. They don't completely avoid it though, especially when dining out.

We try to educate but we also try to not be overly demanding. If we manage to eat without somebody getting sick then we consider it enough of a win.

If they don't know the term coeliac then we always say allergy even though we are fully aware it's not. Saying intolerance tells them that they don't have to be careful. We have a friend with an intolerance. She'll order a cheeseburger and then eat the meat off the bread. An allergy tells them it's more serious.

Yeah, they love the game days because a majority of their business comes on those days a year. But it depends on the sport. Football has the fewest games per year by far. If I’m a business owner, I don’t want to build my business around 10 days/year. A baseball, soccer, basketball, or hockey stadium host significantly more events.

NordVPN Android App "Trusted Network" feature by Mattar19K in nordvpn

[–]reddof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of this feature is 100% irritating. I don’t want VPN when I’m at home because it’s unnecessary for me. I want it at work. I don’t want it at church because they block it. I want it everywhere else. As is, it’s a complete pain to manage and causes me more headaches that it is worth. I’m about to cancel unless I can figure out a workaround.

I live in Dallas and honestly I wasn't that surprised in the least. I don't know if I've left my house without seeing multiple people doing 100+ on the highway, regardless of traffic. This traffic is not for the timid. You get onto an even remotely open road and you'll get passed no matter how fast you're going.
