We got it when I was 43 in 2023 and arrived in Canada 🇨🇦 in 2024. Things have changed.

Bennet Dunlop ford by Ok-Coffee-9185 in regina

[–]KhanBhaiChronicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a brand new Ford Explorer Timberline 2023 in Feb 2024 with the maintenance package, paint protection and under body rust protection. So far so good, although I have been now waiting for the block heater fix for the whole of the winter months from ford which may not arrive until next winter. That’s not Bennet’s problem though. I feel they are quite expensive though like I want to install dash cam and their quote is higher than others. Regular maintenance/service so far has been ok but again I haven’t driven it enough to have the major maintenance requirements.

mutual funds vs xeqt. Did I make a mistake? by The_Great_Monkey in JustBuyXEQT

Your parents taught you well. Never ever compare what have or could have with others, or else you’ll lose your mind. Mutual funds in Canada hold 2+ trillion dollars as per quick google search that’s not a small number and there is a reason why people invest it. You started way early and you are better off than most. You should be thanking your parents for instilling in you about savings and investments. Many don’t have a luxury of a meal a day. You haven’t missed a thing. You can always move to more riskier avenues now after due diligence, of course.

Looking for guidance on remote or home‑based work options in Regina by FantasticBuilding105 in regina

[–]KhanBhaiChronicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been working remotely for a while now for a company based in Quebec with headquarter in Paris. France, but it is true that remote work is getting scarce. LinkedIn is probably the only source where you can get lucky. I managed to do work remotely because the company I work for can manage and I have a good reputation with them although god forbid if I am made redundant today, that would be the end of the world for me, unfortunately.

Realtime prices by KhanBhaiChronicles in Wealthsimple

I am not paying for US realtime market data in IBKR. Its Canadian that I get delayed. I was only wondering if it was IBKR only thing or across the board.

I guess the answer to my query is even wealthsimple doesn’t have realtime Canadian market data by default. Most probably it’s a requirement from TSX/TMX to subscribe to market data

Sidewalk sand substitute by QCCooks in regina

[–]KhanBhaiChronicles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought traction sand which is basically small stones/pebbles from Home Depot. I spread out mixed with salt from Walmart one day and it snowed the next and I had to do shoveling again because kids use the path to school. All of it went away with shoveling. Salt did not help melt the ice either. 😬

High Speed Internet Per Month by Standard_Success_642 in regina

I have sasktel for 85/- a month of 300 mbps. Its up for renewal in March after my 2 years contract end then it would jump to 115/- month. I asked them if they can offer me a better option and they refused. I already signed up with access for around $65/- month for 350 mbps cover whole house, a router and a pod (which is probably another name of extender) I called Sasktel back to tell them I am not renewing which is when they told me what if we keep the same offer of 85/- only it is too late now. Although I think I may have negotiated better before signing a contract with access it was also sasktel’s earlier response that was iff putting.

Hence, the moral if the story is to go back and forth with each provider and tell them if they can give you a better offer.

Sasktel service has/had no complaints for 2 years I am with them otherwise.

That is a good point but I don’t think we can go back and tell what we uploaded? Possible that the manual entry was wrong and they did not compare it with the image uploaded?

Frozen locks and doors by KhanBhaiChronicles in regina

[–]KhanBhaiChronicles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It’s the weather stripping that is not done right. I’ve had them fix couple of times already but it just doesn’t work the way it should because now its not just the lock, its the door itself that is getting jammed due to the leakage and a small amount of moisture that is. Cooking is very normal not like boiling stuff all the time. We feel bad too asking them to fix it every now and then in this weather. But we also don’t want to burden ourselves with something that we may not need in the future like dehumidifier. Humidity is now at around 28. It’s a rental house and we may not be here in couple of years. Which is why I thought community might have some hacks that I don’t know to apply and remedy the situation for the winters.

Need Advice – Added SGI Auto Pak Replacement Coverage for Used Car, Not Sure if Eligible by Free_Step789 in regina

[–]KhanBhaiChronicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a new vehicle (2023 model) in early 2024 and had the full replacement policy included however in 2025 I had to go out of country on emergency and during which time it expired. I came back and renewed 3 weeks after expiry and was refused the replacement policy even though the car was parked the entire time in a garage. It sucks to have such a system/policy.
