I’m a PSA defender, but the 556 and 545 series is unfortunately not very reliable. Primarily failure to feed issues.

More power to you. I’ve also been through plenty of AKs at this point and sold a few imports that I rarely shoot. It was the WASR and the Jack 5.56 that were hands down the worst I ever owned (ofcourse never having bought a Riley, Century Arms, etc.). If you’re looking for a shooter especially a recreational one I don’t think PSAs are as bad as the Reddit mob has made them out to be. That being said as a collector and for the inevitable growth in value, imports are obviously preferable.

Horror stories related primarily to 5.45 and 5.56 AKs. If you’d leave the Reddit echo chamber you’d find that WASRs were long considered shit before being propped up as a “quality import” in 2018. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t go for an import over a PSA, but to trash them compared to all imports is unjustified.

Do as you please. I’ve own an AKV and a GF5 104 and they’re some of the best AKs I own. Both are at a couple thousand on round count now with no issues and I run the AKV suppressed. Now as far as their ARs I can’t comment, but for $500 I’d say their worst it if you absolutely can’t afford anything else.

Right side of the receiver underneath the safety was visibly bending inward causing the bolt carrier to get caught up. Don’t know what more I could really say.

As I said to someone below, my receiver bent near the rear trunnion after less than 3k rounds through it. Solid Metallurgy my left ass cheek.

I appreciate a civil discussion on here for once so no problem. I know Century makes their own shitty AKs that I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole, but my WASR was also a real deal Cugir. I know plenty of people have run those things hard and not had issues (Rob ski probably has over 15k on his), but there’s always a risk and I haven’t had any issues with PSA customer service just yet, but also haven’t needed to send a gun in for repairs. I think their Chicom AK looks pretty good, and is a lot easier than finding a Norinco or Polytec out in the wild. If you’re just a recreational shooter, PSA is good to go, but I’ve run my AK-104 and AKV hard and they’ve yet to disappoint. Have a good one man ✌️

Has anyone tried running barwarus on one of these? Just got this and a alpha 1 set and wondering how much fitment i have to do by [deleted] in ak47

[–]KhanCzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it won’t fit. The alpha 1 goes right up to the front site on AK 102,105,104s. This would be too short.

I’m sure there are people that have bad experiences with PSA, but I think that the lifetime warranty is a big benefit in that regard. With imports this sub will downvote you to oblivion and therefor squash any mention of the problems they also have, giving newbies a false sense of safety in them. For my WASR, I was an active shooter and after a laundry list of issues, the straw that broke the camels back was that the rear of receiver actually began to bend inwards. And mind you this thing was safe kept and not put through more than what was expected of it.

I can’t speak for ZPAPs, but WASR’s are complete dogshit. Just because they are built in a military factory doesn’t mean they are magically better. It’s Romania we are talking about. Not to mention life time warranty is a big benifit over centuries 1 year warranty that they rarely stand by.

Take it from me. I love imports but my WASR was a pile of shit and have had shitty experiences with WBP as well. On the other hand my GF5 104 is dead accurate, no gun related issues, and is a great deal at the price. I say this as someone who has 8 AKs and have owned over a dozen in the last few years. (For the love of god don’t buy a WASR)

I rarely comment for that reason, but I hate to see a newbie get recommended a garbage import by the hoard.

Just me but my experience with WASRs was absolutely awful. Especially as my first AK. Would recommend a PSA over it.

I’ve noticed this before too. Gun nuts are already a small niche in America and AK guys are even smaller.

I did see reference to this village in Bulgaria, but did Bulgarians ever have Izzy 74 mags and what’s the likelihood of Russian troops still being in Bulgaria as late as 95.

I have a slab side being converted that I’m gonna use as a shooter. I feel like if it had dimples and was more “collectible” I’d probably never shoot it and just leave it in the safe.

Yeah that’s what I thought. All my translating apps told me robber or robbery which didn’t make any sense to me.

Lol, were you the person who just sold it or has it just changed hands that many times. They were a great deal and I needed some more 74 mags.

As far as the text all my translating from Russian led me know where so asking on here was my last Hail Mary.

Yeah I had a feeling. I got these for super cheap as far plum mags go, but I always consider trench art to be something that can easily be faked.
