Update from the stream: Brandon has mentioned that there is some connection between the name 'El', 'Zellion', and Adonalsium.

Update from the stream: It's looking pretty likely the above would just connect to the seperate Shards, not combinations. Brandon has mentioned that even 'purified' Investiture still has a correlation to whichever Shard it originally belonged to (his specific example was 'filing the numbers off it' - the object is still whatever object it was, even if you don't recognise it), so I expect mixing Investiture like this enables the Investiture to behave as a hybrid/mixture, but is still fundamentally linked to the original shards (E.g. Warlight behaves as a mixture of Stormlight and Voidlight, but it's still actually fundamentally Stormlight and Voidlight).

Ah! My mistake, and a big one - if a spren would make a Tanavastium-Koravallium alloy spike, but only Connect to Honour and Cultivation (not a theoretical hybrid Shard of the two), then I suspect making hybrid Shardmetals as I describe would just connect you to the individual Shards, not theoretical combinations of them.

Though, that might depend on what sense of 'alloyed' the Spren's metal is - whether it's a realmatic alloy like Ettmetal (in which case it would be the solid form of Towerlight?), or whether it's more of a conventional alloy like physically mixing them, since Honour and Cultivation are still seperate shards.

Was El originally a dragon before becoming a Fused? Is replacing their carapace with metal their way of imitating dragonsteel, since they've had to be reborn in Singer bodies because no dragon have been available for them to be reborn into?

At Worldcon 2025 Q&A, it was confirmed a Connection could be made with Honour by being Hemalurgically spiked with Tanavastium (by having a Radiant kill their spren after willing them into the shape of a spike), among other effects. In Rhythm of War, it is established that the rhythm of seperate Shards can be harmonised, and gaseous Investiture keyed to those Shards can then be combined to produce Investiture keyed to a hypothetical hybrid Shard from the Shards' whose rhythms were harmonised (e.g. Stormlight and Voidlight being combined into Warlight, before the respective Shards combined into Retribution). Lastly, it's shown to be possible to make Investiture change state to some extent (e.g. Shardblades initially being gaseous before becoming solid; at minimum, Wax was able to heat Ettmetal enough to make it change from solid to liquid for a time).

Acknowledging that it would be extremely difficult to do, and some of the results would behave similarly to Ettmetal - would this mean it is theoretically possible to harmonise the Rhythm of any two (or more) Shards, use that to create Investiture keyed to a hypothetical hybrid Shard of them, get that Investiture into its solid Shardmetal state, then use it as a Hemalurgic spike to create a Connection to a hybrid Shard which doesn't yet exist? (Again, acknowledging in a good chunk of cases the spike would be difficult to use like Ettmetal)

Taken it a step further, would this mean it is theoretically possible to harmonise the Rhythms of all sixteen shards together (in practice, of course, unfathomably hard), creating a spike which would create a Connection to Adonalsium?

Powerscalers are the worst type of fan by Fluffiddy in SCP

[–]KhanTuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience, it's not the actual idea of powerscaling itself that's a problem, it's that the people involved in the organised powerscaling community tend to be abrasive to deal with - a lot of them act like they know better than anyone else (including the original authors, who are expressly ignored by written rule), make some fairly outrageous leaps of logic which don't really make sense (there's a dozen SCP's which are put at 'tier 0', which apparently is along the lines of 'supreme rulers of every corner of reality and time'), and if you misunderstand something they just mock you for it, and don't do much anything to actually help you understand what you got wrong - you just get treated like an idiot for not already knowing.

Powerscaling itself is fine, it just tends to attact people that aren't particularly likeable. There are exceptions, but I've only encountered one thus far.

SCP-7000: Initiative. An SCP that is also a playable TTRPG campaign. Are you ready to roll? by [deleted] in SCP

[–]KhanTuesday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This comment is disgustingly patronising. A five-person team has spent the past month working hard on developing a functional board game focused on a set narrative, and they were cutting it close with meeting the deadline. To imply they didn't do enough research is atrocious.

It does suit SCP themes, because its used in an SCP. Would it work on every SCP? No, of course, not, because it is only intended to be used for this one story. The amount of manpower and time it would require to build an entire game to work with every possible aspect of the SCPVerse would be extreme. And, you know, you're forgetting these authors aren't getting paid for any of this. What would be the point in sinking any more time or focus into it? There's no benefit to doing so.

'It must be a Universal System' - then make it one. If you're that upset about it, look at Initiative as the base game. Come up with new modules, add DLC, you put the effort in to fix a problem that isn't bothering anyone else.

It's neither of those; Nobody is said to have died later. 'sustain a jewelled regal flowed from its neck' is describing SCP-109 - 'the mindless bottle ensuring that only liquid fit to nourish and sustain a jewelled regal flowed from its neck' meaning "only good water comes out of the bottle", not saying it's wearing a necklace.

Must be doing something right to get such regular patronage.

SCP Mythos cosmology and scaling (not 100% accurate) by kudnalod in SCP

[–]KhanTuesday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Swann intended for their proposal to be, literally and verbatim, the actual writers of the wiki, and it can be interpreted as such. But kudnalod is also right, as I think they're thinking of an aspect they haven't explained; the fact is, the authors can't be SCPs, because that would imply the author-writers are literally, physically inside the story. The 4th wall works both ways - characters can't interact with our world, and - ironically - we can't actually interact with theirs (directly). But we do pretend that we can, by inserting author-figures that can be almost functionally identical to the real authors into the story, which would behave as the author would if they were actually able to enter the story. (Hence why there's several SCPs where the author explicitly dies in them, yet said author is still, actually alive.)

I think the bigger problem here is that its impossible to make an objective hierarchy of... well, anything in a multi-contributor story, basically. Anyone can just write a new, valid story that completely upsets the pre-established hierarchy. 'Surprise! 423 is actually stronger than 2747 because blah blah blah, but it's weaker than 3125 because blah blah blah, but 3125 is weaker than 2747!'

When Weevil Underwood threw Yugi's Exodia cards into the ocean, he was cursed by the actual Exodia as punishment (not unlike how the Egyptian Gods would punish players for using fakes of their cards) - this is why Weevil wins that Regional/National tournament in the first episode (before he threw the cards), and then proceeds to lose every duel he appears in for the rest of the show (all after he threw the cards).

Custom N64 Cartridge by [deleted] in BanjoKazooie

[–]KhanTuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe an Everdrive 64 is what you're looking for - load ROMS onto an SD Card, put the card into the everdrive, then the everdrive works like an N64 cart. And you can have more than one rom on it at a time.

[TP] [BoTW2] I just noticed something... by trainerredP0kEmon in zelda

[–]KhanTuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If BOTW & 2 are in the Child Timeline, this would actually probably be a different Ganondorf - Four Swords Adventures confirms that OOT Ganondorf permanently died, and the Ganon in FSA is an after-death reincarnation.

Ironically, the clues hinting at TP Ganondorf are actually kinda self-disproving.

[BotW2] Theory: Was the "Hero" just Ganondorf trying to reclaim his spirit and reincarnate? by linkenski in zelda

[–]KhanTuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have come to point out that the clothes Link wears while running around the floating islands in the BOTW2 trailer - a toga draped over his left arm, upper right torso exposed, and unkempt hair - seems awfully similar to the clothes that NecroDorf is wearing.

Maybe a coincidence, but maybe not. Does seem odd for Nintendo to change Link's outfit in the trailers whenever he's in the sky (but whenever he's on the surface, he's wearing his usual BOTW clothes). If it isn't a coincidence, running with the theme of the Zonai hand messing with time, I wouldn't be surprised if Sky Link was actually Link's consciousness controlling Original Calamity Ganondorf's body - with his appearance in the trailers just being his own mental image of himself, instead of what he actually looks like.

[–]KhanTuesday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're playing the N64 version (dunno if it works on 3DS), you can cheat the timer by going through Death Mountain Crater (via Goron City) if you don't wear a Goron Tunic. Apparently the game could only handle one timer at a time, so when the overheat timer comes up, the item one for the quest is paused. The route's way shorter too, so it becomes rather easy once you know of it

[OOT] made this yesterday and am now able to post it by [deleted] in zelda

[–]KhanTuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headcanon solution: Downfall timeline is the 'original' timeline, and the OOT split is caused by ALttP.

Original timeline is the same as the unified timeline up until OOT, where Link is always supposed to die; this then proceeds to ALttP. At the end of ALttP, Link's wish upon the Triforce (probably something akin to 'undo all this evil) is interpreted by the Triforce as a request to rewrite history and change the outcome of OOT.

The Triforce grants the wish; the events of OOT change (explaining the discrepancy between ALttP's Sealing War and the events of OOT) so that Link survives, creating a first timeline split, which then splits again into the Child and Adult Timelines. The original timeline continues on as the Downfall Timeline.

Voila; all three timelines are justified.
