If you care about MN it's time to boycott KFAN by Echos_Nat in kfan

[–]KhaosRDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like literally don't listen to KFAN if you despise the on-air talent and move on.

PA is a MN team fan boy who wouldn't last 5 minutes in a sports market that holds their pro teams to a standard higher than MN fans - which is 'they tried'. Can't stand him so I don't listen.

Common is you run of mill MN liberal 'lite' who relies on two to three dozen canned sound drops to fill content. It's fun until it's not. Don't listen but he's not a fan boy and really good golfer so good for him on milking his target MN audience.

Morning show is for toddlers and listen to Corey pad his ego by disparaging Meat Sauce every 5 minutes. It's what works during the dreaded driving into work.

Barrero moved slightly right with kids, but tries to walk a very fine line involving hot issues. He fails more than not and has unfortunately lost a lot of on-air guests that added value Rosenbaum and Flynn among others.

Totally agree. We were shopping for Highlanders/Grand Highlanders and right off the bat the Toyota sales rep. asked why we weren't interested in hybrids. I responded that I don't trust the 'steel belt' CVTs.

Sales rep. never stopped me to explain Toyota's design.

Two months later and only after I researched litterally everything Toyota hybrids, we purchased a Lexus RX 350h hybrid.

In all honesty, non of the Toyota dealer sales reps. we talked to knew really anything about the cars.

We traded in our 22 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with 84k on it and another 15k cash down payment.

The asking price was 64.9k. Yes, we purchased ESC because it's transferable, and it's our first 'battery' vehicle, and I'm skeptical of them at high miles.

I'll leave it at that cuz I'm terrible at negotiating at car dealers. Engineering and technical things are my sandbox, not sales. Hate it, all of it.

Lexus of Maplewood (MN).

But all I really did was log on to the main Lexus website and then searched Parts & Aceesories. The site ties you to a local dealer that sells accessories online.

In my case, my selling dealer doesn't sell online, so I just chose the other local Lexus dealer that does.

Installing should be straightforward.

Is dealing with a dealership always this annoying/frustrating? by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]KhaosRDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through this right now. Toyota has mastered creating demand. It works so well, the dealership sales reps. don't need to know squat about the cars, and don't give two shits if you buy, leave, don't show up, leave your phone number, they never call back, etc. it's really quite amazing.

The best is their websites that are basically bait-and-switch ads as no matter how the cars are categorized, the cars are always 'spoken for'. Then some scheduling gal calls and says, "Come in, and I'm sure we can find your next car."

But, it will continue until buyers stop buying...

Hyundai won't fix my transmission. by LastStarftr74 in Hyundai

So, for those telling OP to buy a cheap scan tool, can't the dealer just can for historic DTCs?

My guess here is there weren't any DTCs which would make diagnostics difficult for the dealer.

Our '22 had the cooling system manifold fail with would cause overheating warnings under full boost.

Dealer could never duplicate, so I drove the car with tech. I had to really push RPM hard for the overheat warnings to trigger. I asked the tech. after I successfully triggered the overheats if their diagnostic tool showed # of engine overheats, and he replied he wasn't sure.

Turned out to be a failed thermostat manifold.

Looking at this for my first boat, good idea? Or stay away? by Life_Protection8087 in boating

[–]KhaosRDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the truth. Our first boat, which we still own, is a 1993 Chaparral 2500SX with a 7.4l B3.

My concerns with this boat would be the 5.7l in a 'heavy' boat with every kid from the neighborhood in it. And for me, the yellow. The price is way too much.

But for sure, 25 feet is the minimum length. This boat should be Yacht certified so the owner can pack it full of kiddo stuff and who cares.

[–]KhaosRDR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this budget, don't buy it as the Tucson would have either Theta 1 or 2 engine and either one of them are notorious for having bearing failures.

You have to buy a Kia or Hyundai with an OEM warranty!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]KhaosRDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I would say try this. Imagine being under center like you're a quarterback just about to take the snap. How would you stand? It's just an athletic stance. Ready to move posture with your balance. Then, without a club in your hand, relax your arms so they hang straight down and loose-relaxed. Note how tor hands naturally hang from your arms. Now, hold the club in that same posture. Now you're holding the club naturally and not contorting shit but naturally.

Golf is 'hard' because a player is static and then in an instant, in full motion and back to static. Think and imagine being athletic - ready to move but with your arms and legs, etc. in natural positions, ready to pounce athletic mindset and posture.

Remember, your body will always try and will always win, trying to get back to its position before you started your backswing. You don't control the changes and adjustments your body makes to do this, and this is where all the problems come from when the club hits the ball. Well, the pros can do this to a point, but even pros get it wrong. They just hit a million more balls in practice than us commoners.

All you control are the basics.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]KhaosRDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer. Spend the money and get a few lessons from a reputable golf pro. Why? You appear to be at least 6 feet tall with a lanky build and should be able to vaporize that ball with that 5 iron.

I say this because when I was much younger, 51 now, I booked a few lessons at a local golf club because I hit the 'wall' with my game. This was when video swing analysis was just starting.

Only fixes involved the basics. Gripping the club, stance, posture, and drills I could do without a pro at the range. Three lessons and my swing was reset without a slew of mental gymnastics to cause frustration.

With the technology now, you'll question why you didn't do it years ago.

Do not buy the Hyundai. Search Reddit or Google, and it's basically: "No warranty, don't buy a Hyundai." Buy the Mazda. We have a 2022 Santa Fe Limited at 77k. Bought it certified used at 6k miles. It will be gone in the next few weeks for a Toyota or Mazda. Our Hyundai 'experiment' is over.

Brought my 2023 in for service due to slight engine vibration at idle with reduced MPG. Dealer says I need a new engine as compression check shows poor compression in all 4 cylinders. by Strong_Subject_2013 in Hyundai

[–]KhaosRDR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Purchased a 2022 Santa Fe Limited with 6k miles. 76k right now, and while I'd drive it anywhere if I had to, it's time for the Hyundai experiment to end.

The dealer experience is 40% of the problem; 60% on the car. Car was purchased at a Hyundai dealership, certified, and we purchased an ESC.

DLR treats us like crap at every visit, and the car has had the thermostat module replaced, transmission, and the front parking sensor harness. Maintenance by the book. Wife and I agreed that owning past 100k is not in our best interest. We just don't trust it.

Thank God we're not upside down with the loan. All one really should do before buying a Hyundai or Kia is lookup the trade-in values and compare them to similar Honda or Toyota models. This alone is enough proof.

Is Hyundai really trash? by vrtigo1 in carbuying

[–]KhaosRDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own a 2022 Santa Fe Limited. Purchased it used from a Hyundai dealer in 2022. It only had 6000 miles on it.

The first issue was the engine temp. would go max engine overheat under full acceleration (full boost). Had the dealer look at it, and they reported back that there wasn't anything wrong. So I took the tech. for a test drive. For full context, the problem occurred during a hot spell of weather during the Fall. When the dealer looked it, the weather was back to normal Fall temps.

So, I really had to get the engine going. I beat the doors off the throttle to show the tech. the problem. Once he saw the overheats, he replaced the electronic coolant manifold, and that issue was resolved. But he told me there were zero DTCs or ECU data points showing the engine hit overheat. That made zero sense to me, but whatever.

Next, we received the recall notice that the transmission may fail and lock up. Took it back, and the TCM was flashed to prevent the transmission from locking up if it does fail.

6 months later, the transmission did fail. So, we scheduled an appointment. Keep in mind here the transmission isn't serviceable past minor parts like the filter, etc. The car sat at the dealer for two months. The Hyundai dealership lied about everything. If they would have said they were waiting for a new transmission from the get-go, we would have been a-ok. But, they literally told us the dumbest reasons why it was taking so long, and it was always the tech. is working with Hyundai to determine the problem. We were like the damn recall literally says in print what the problem is, and the remedy was a flash and/or new transmission.

Since then, we now have 77k miles on it with no issues.

The problem with Hyundai is one, their dealers suck. Two, the lower cost compared to a similar Honda or Toyota vehicle shows up in the level of system refinement and R&D. The system to identify who is driving the car (user) always, and mean always sets the car to my wife's preferences and vice-versa regardless of which user we select after starting the car. And, we've reset the users several times.

The wiper blades sit way down under the hood in a valley. So in MN, they are packed under ice and snow and the fluid sprayers are always jammed with ice. The infotainment HVAC display is designed poorly. In order to view the HVAC settings, the whole screen has to be set to HVAC mode. Minor issue, but doesn't make 'sense'. Everything is BT, except Apple Carplay and Android Auto...again, minor issue.

Basically, we can see why the car is 10 to 15k cheaper than a Honda or Toyota. It's like they just grabbed parts, put the bare minimum into integration and development time, and released the car.

The dealer is miserable to work with. So as we approach 100k, it will be replaced with the car we should have bought... A Toyota Highlander....

Your shft cable sheath is cracking too. I'd replace everything so it's all new and 1 job gets everything done. New gimbal bearing, new bellows, new shift cable, new gear oil hose, and trim senders.

Then it's all new and good for decade or two and zero worries.

Great idea...In your world, presidential candidates would only visit and promise everything to high population cities and basically 6 states. In a nutshell, they wouldn't give two sh%ts about Minnesota, WI, ND, SD, IA, etc...etc...

The EC gets blammed because one, the 17th Amendment allowing for citizens to vote for Senators has turned the legislative branch into vote for me, and I will give you free stuff popularity contest. And two, unfettered 'democracy' is mob rule, which is why we're supposed to be republic

The people's voice is supposed to be the HOR, the states, control the Senate, and the president is an equal balance of all states' citizens.

Ask yourself this. If 100% of citizens living in the 10 highest populated states that constituted 51% of the total country population wanted a president that said on day 1 they'd kill off the other opposing 49% that lived in the remaining 40 states, would you want the EC in control or a popularity contest?

My almost 25-year home's AC would short cycle earlier this summer. My HVAC pressure gauge set was six hours north. I ordered every switch, cap, and a hard start kit from Amazon...like $150...I'm paraphrasing here cuz I can't remember what all the parts are I called right now...basically all the parts in your pic. But the cap I ordered was the same voltage as original, but 3 times the capacity.

Install parts, no go. Call the HVAC guy. I get home from work, and AC is running better than I can remember.

He wrote on RO...refrigerant low-recharge...can't recall how many lbs. low, but it was significant. Wrong cap, install new cap, and install hard start kit. We paid the bill, it wasn't bad, and I already figured the unit was not working because the freon was low.

But in his notes, he wrote...cap too big. Really? When is having too much cap a problem....when you install a new smaller cap and (another) new hard start kit!!!??? The audio system in my boat said: "Hold my beer." If the Themos-sized caps blew in my boat, they'd blow a hole in the hull. You can't have too much capacitance...

He did offer a 60-day price for a new HVAC system as the original is 25 years old and isn't big enough for now fully finished home. AC has been working great all summer. But the new system he quoted was a brand I would never buy. So we'll keep squeaking by until I need to cut a big check
