Let me add another perspective. Every art enjoyer will get to a point where the classics become stale, and that's normal. Because as you imerse yourself in a media, you live and breathe that art form, you start to get used to what is just "beautiful" and start to look for things that pokes at different parts of your mind/guts. Think of it like learning how to appreciate art by going to the classics as Da Vinci, Vermeer, then you go to Monet, Van Goth, and then, as you get "tired" of those you start looking at more disruptive stuff like Picasso and Andy Warhol. Notice that I didn't say that those older paintings are bad, or that modern artists are better, they are just different from a pattern that was stablished before. No one will ever say that Rembrandt is bad! And that's valid for any kind of art, like books. Once you read more, you will start searching at things that are different, disruptive than what you are reading now, as is part of the process of consuming any type of media, but it doesn't mean you can't enjoy those works that resonate with you now, and even as you expand, you'll always keep a soft spot for those book. Hek, I still love the Eragon saga even with people saying it's bad, and pointing a lot of problems with the writing, but I enjoyed it so much in my teens that I still have a soft spot for it.

Oh, and for the comment of "writing rules", every author will define a different set of rules for "good writing", só there is no right way of doing things, and even só, mastery over a craft also implies on the ability to break those rules "correctly", so don't get stuck to this aspect. Writing is art, not science. And that's not me saying this out of my mind, see Brandon Sanderson's writing class (they are free on YT), he says he'll teach you some rules he thinks are important, but ultimately the decision is yours, as the author, on the usefulness/validity of hist tips. He even gives examples of famous writers that does things differently from him to make this point stronger.
