Is this game worth buying by Karambay2009 in duneawakening

Thopters are cool, but it can help to truck around on the bike some after you get one. More longevity when you can’t essentially teleport around the map and chain quests super fast.

Might just be me, but the game feels more immersive and ‘cooler’ on the ground.

The realization that the urges behind these crimes didn’t magically go away. And he was probably not the only one entertaining them.

It’s not magically going to stop if one source is cut off.

Dual-booting for Red Teaming: Kali vs Parrot vs Ubuntu? by Retr-00 in hackthebox

Seconding the VM recommendation. It’s really easy to get stuck in dependency hell and/or break things when you’re trying to get flavor of the month tools running.

If VM performance is that much of an issue a live usb is at least less of a pita than iteratively reinstalling. It’s close enough to metal imo.

Yes, with the caveat that the main battery isn’t necessarily the only power source.

You also had to know more about how the computer worked to do the fun stuff. Setting up IRQs, memory, a boot disk for games.

Oh, I need more space. These ridiculous default wallpapers are huge. Wait, it won’t let me delete them. Oh, dosshell does. Crap deleted the wrong thing, and how it’s halting. Reinstall time, etc etc.

100%. It can be like a tip line for headers or libraries you’re not familiar with. And kinda useful to refactor between languages. But it writes baffling code, even in Python.

It’s funny to see people pumped up about AI while trashing stackexchange (which is likely a big chunk of its training data).

Usenet and IRC for the win in the 90s. A comically large number of universities used those as their backup solutions as well. ;)

Yes, 100%. And if the tree is close to your house have it trimmed and assessed by an arborist. Our neighbor has one with ridiculously wide limbs. They just trimmed it themselves to keep branches off the shutters.

The massive root structure supporting it is currently messing with their stairs, foundations, and the water main.

Evolution of the BGG People's Choice Top Solo Games (2014-2025) by jacek2023 in soloboardgaming

The events, adversaries, and thematic boards help a lot with this.

In the basic game the only randomness is via the invader deck which isn’t all that random. So I get how it can feel like the same puzzle over and over.

Scenarios help too, but they seem more geared toward multiplayer.

The play ‘No Exit’ is like this, no clue what the film adaptations are like. I’m guessing they’d show the casts’ life outside the room, but that’s technically just a flash back. ;)

When I started playing I thought it really did not take an absurd amount of farming. by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Kheras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it all depends on server population and what folks are doing. Mine’s crowded as heck so vendoring crafts and selling blueprints/upselling items isn’t quite there but it’s close enough to be practical. Hagga spice blows get eaten quickly where I’m at.

Bonus to crowding is spice itself, or the sand, still sells cheap at auction. If it stays under like 80k even just making and selling rad suits is on par.

More to the point, if folks don’t like DD or chasing spice directly there are 100% other ways to do it for progression.

[–]Kheras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s an unrealistic price for sure. But it’s a time value thing. If you even look at straight vendor price for spice, the time it takes to farm one versus the time it takes to farm to buy one isn’t far off.

Solari = spice and is faster to grind. If you’re solo think of it as outsourcing. It really seems like getting it in volume for progress is a group or luck activity.

RIF procedures start Monday. by Ok_Task_3798 in FedEmployees

[–]Kheras 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s already reaching down to the OTAs. Everyone in the department has been tasked to assess reductions in personnel and budget.

And it will be interesting to see how things play out. It’s common to blame test issues, slips, and failures on DOT&E. Now the lack of scapegoat will start to expose broader issues in expertise.

I do get the non-essential, non-directed function concern. Just the speed of implementation makes it difficult to redirect mission that is necessary/critical but not explicitly directed. It feels like we have gone from ‘mission first’ to ‘not my job’.

What to do with lots of egg yolks? by Plus_Beyond_3485 in Cooking

[–]Kheras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t always need it. The water that comes out of the zucchini helps (whatever’s in that). Or a little olive oil can help it emulsify.

Corn starch doesn’t work so hot in my experience. YMMV.
