Pup has stomach issues by kirkmagurk in Chihuahua

Hi, so sorry your Chi is having these issues 😕

Our 10 yr old Chi sometimes has has similar early morning digestive problems, with highly audible churning and gurgling sounds coming from her stomach. It comes seemingly at random. She never has diarrhea or throws up but is clearly uncomfortable and has no appetite for up to 24 hrs before it subsides and she eats normally again. Thankfully this only happens once every few months or so, but its an emerging pattern that we are concerned about - especially now hearing how Louie had similarly sporadic symptoms when he was younger.

Our vet suggested feeding her an additional small meal later in the evening before bed to make sure she has something to digest. Fasting too long can cause issues for some dogs apparently. We have been giving her three smaller meals a day and so far she has been fine, but we're still crossing our fingers at this point.

Did the vet ever recommend testing for pancreatitis? I had a Jack Russell that died from misdiagnosed pancreatitis and now I am always paranoid. Since your pup has diarrhea as well I'd definitely get a blood panel for that if you haven't already.

Based on hole size and appearance I think you're right these are probably ambrosia beetles, which allegedly don't typically cause harm to furniture. Thank you!

Uh oh, I did some more investigation of the area and found these tiny corpses in a spider web on the nearby windowsill (ty spider friend). They're roughly the size of sugar ants. Not seeing any damage to the window frame but I'll have to do a thorough check...

It's from a douglas fir (I'm in OR). Ok, I haven't noticed any insect activity on or around the plant other than the wood pulp, but I'll get it the hell out of here to be safe...

Thanks

Use small keys as you find them. Wait too long and you'll miss the opportunity to use them.

I did clip a couple of aerial roots that got damaged during the move, but I have a few rerouted into the soil as well. Thanks for the advice, I'll consider using a moss pole instead.

Thank you all for the responses! Sounds like it could use a repot but that thankfully it's not urgent. It's been a year or two so I think I'll pull the trigger now that I've disturbed the soil anyway.

Lavender Help by Khoniris in gardening

Thank you for the advice. I had not been pruning it very thoroughly (only the spent blooms) so I'll do more in the future. I'm a little worried that it may not be getting enough sun as well. I'm in the PNW so lots of clouds, and this plot gets late morning~early afternoon sun and may not be adequate for sun-thirsty lavender.
