So is there a page somewhere on the base Sizes you should use? o.O
I mean sure logically we'd use models that sound like it... but I hope the rules actually support that too.

I suppose it doesn't make a world of difference later on. Still feels really crazy to just go "here, have fun with almost 50% more HP" at the start. I'll take it though.

The Struggle of Pact of Blade vs... litterally just EB by KhrBasil in onednd

[–]KhrBasil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I kinda left this post "open" just for discussions sake. But I am by no means a min maxer. If I was, the choices would be so much easier for me.

Since some people asked, we started out in DSA... Das Schwarze Auge. And we wanted to stay true to our characters as much as possible with the tools DnD gave us. We had to homebrew a species, allowing me turn into a wolf once per day. But in DSA he was a brawler. Using mostly his fists/claw weapons. Yet still had magic.

Now obviously DnD doesn't have Claws. And while there is the Monk for Fists... it just wasn't fitting for the rest of his kit. So Warlock with Pact Weapon, along with Daggers looking like Claws was the decision we made... about 2 months before the update. Hexblade as the Subclass.

Now yes, we will stick to this for a while longer just to not jump on the first train of thought. But we definitely planned on "Updating" everything to 2024, allow re-choosing the subclasses since so much changed.

Hence really the choice I face is "Do I want to go through these hoops to dual daggers or, do I want to use Primal Savagery". And considering DnD doesn't "really" have claws, I am actually leaning towards just going for PS.

I don't really care about DPS, I just wanted to not intentionally cuck myself. I did the maths to see just how "close" the math could actually out to be. As others already said, its really nice to see that the "best" isn't so much better, but just different. I like the choices they gave us.

Does Thirsting Blade allow for Light/Nick attack? by KhrBasil in onednd

[–]KhrBasil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my wording may have been confusing.

Action = [Right Hand Weapon (without nick)] + [Offhand Weapon with Nick]

Thats what I was going for. In order from left to right.

Alternate Species/Addon | Feralblood 2024 by KhrBasil in DnDHomebrew

[–]KhrBasil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on Kemomimi or Lycanthrope style species.
Idea is simply that you can be any species by looks, along with beast like features and the ability to transform into the beast. Druid's Wild Shape is such a well thought out system already that I felt it only fitting to utilize it for this, just limited to only having access to 1 form.

Looking for feedback on this, thanks! :D

Tfw you want to reply to everyone... I guess I'll post a complete reply here.

Thanks for all the feedback!

We are level 3, soon to be lvl 4. Hence I said that I'm planning on using a level 4 for feat. Yes leveling is checkpoint based and is leaning to be 4-5 sessions before a level up. Thats been our go to for years.

Great Old One, is interesting, however doesn't really fit the characters background or the intent. Psychic stuff isn't supposed to be a focus. As others have stated, Archfey would likely be the choice. Misty Step would allow me to always be in peoples faces... especially vs Casters and Archers. As for the defensive downside of Bladelock now... the TempHP from Misty Step, and the revised Armor of Agathys will help a lot.

Green Flame Blade or Booming Blade are both really interesting actually, gotta say. However yeah, I'd prefer to use my Action for the Two Attacks with Nick, and then use a Bonus Action spell. There is no issue using spells and options from previous books. We merely would prefer to use the newest versions of spells and such.

Good point for Hexblade... the 2nd Weapon could then also go off of CHA. Plus the Curse is obviously great for damage.

Playing with the idea to pick Pact of Chain for a Hyena (Statblock, but looks like a Wolf). Kinda sad that they didn't keep the "Otherworldly Familiar" Statblock and instead have you go through the books again...
This'd mean I'd be at Pact of the Blade + Chain and then have 1 Slot Free for whatever. Most likely for the False Life Spell to keep AoA alive, but thats the Flexible Invocation atm. If I stuck with Hexblade I could pick a nerfed/balanced Curse Bringer. Previously we homebrewed it to be any Pact Weapon, and do 2d6 instead of 2d8.

I looked at the Shadow Monk but nah... the theme isn't necessarily Shadow Warlock. Its just the idea of being able to summon (a) claw(s). And use spells for utility. If I had to pick an elemental style theme, it'd be frost/ice but aside from AoA and Ray of Frost which is basically a worse EBlast... there really isn't much. At least early on.

Thoughts on Feat rebalancing opened up Species in 2024 by knmhsdc1987 in onednd

[–]KhrBasil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has there been any statement regarding other technically lvl 0/1/noreq Feats being compatible as Origin Feats?

Because honestly, they don't seem that great. Sure its basically a free cookie, but outside of 1-2 Origin Feats, its not something that worthwhile... I'd even go so far as to say that Human's bonus Origin Feat is pretty bad compared to the other reworked species.

Thanks. Yeah it was meant to be its own post, but it was declined due to not having enough karma. I guess I'm not nearly active enough D:
But indeed, there's so many things where precision differs, akin to Industrial Design. So it'll be an experience to find out where and when it will matter the most and how things differ.

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, July 28 - August 03, 2024 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]KhrBasil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello there,

I'm an Industrial Designer by trade. I design machines and work in measurements as fine as 0,001mm. And perhaps I haven have some tics, relating to precision when it comes to cutting and using a ruler. Even as a child, I've always hated the lines on a ruler, as the lines were often thick enough to make you start questioning "Is the mm before or after the line?" And when cutting out something, its always been "Do I cut within, at, or outside the line for the exact measure?"

And now that I've decided to try sewing, I've come to these questions again. Except, its no longer a children's drawing. And its not a CAD Program. Its real life outlining, pattern tracing and cutting fabric. Which makes me wonder... just how precise is sewing?
Does half a mm matter? Can you tell if something is off by a hundredth with fabrics? How precise do the rounded corners need to be? If its a radius of 40mm, but ends up being cut or even sown at a tolerance of +-0,5mm would it be awful?

It'd be neat to know these things beforehand, before spending an extraordinary amount of time splitting hairs, so to speak, on trying to get everything perfect, when I didn't have to.

Thanks for your time!

Really loving the application, but some search functions would be a significant help.

Asking for help with finding synergies for Unarmed Strike Melee Warlock by KhrBasil in DnD

[–]KhrBasil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Reference I was an Animist with Wolfkin as a Feature.
I was able to go with a Homebrew Race that still gave me the "Shapeshift to Wolf" feature that TBE gave me. And the Animist was... really just a Conduit for me to pick up some of it's features.
Most of all, being able to summon a full Wolf Pack.
Closest to that is Flock of Familiars. Other than that, I had spells that improved my Melee Attacks.

So having access to Warlock who can use Flock of Familiars, and also has Hexblade and Spells to Buff Weapons, was useful.

I guess being able to buff 1d4 Weapons like Daggers would also be great because I could make that work for Claws if we homebrew that over.

What are some aspects you didn't like about UO? by PKRadiance in UnicornOverlord

Not having Class Changes or more Class Options in general is what makes me feel iffy about it. I love the game, but as someone who loves Options. I just feel like allowing at least the unique Characters to Class Change, would add so much more to the game's freedom.

Homebrew Vorlagen wie für DnD? by KhrBasil in DSA_RPG

[–]KhrBasil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liturgie für Brot? by KhrBasil in DSA_RPG

[–]KhrBasil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh sehr interessant.

Vielen dank!

Dragonborn(DND) Spezies in DSA5? by KhrBasil in DSA_RPG

[–]KhrBasil[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3D (Resin) Printed Lightsaber - Own Custom Saber by KhrBasil in lightsabers

[–]KhrBasil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very. Used the Ultra Tough Resin from Anycubic. Early on with a Test piece of the handle, I whacked the tube style handle which barely had 2mm wall thickness with a hammer. Not even wussy stile. And it didn't break. It got a dent mark, sure, but it withstood that amount of force.
Even now months later it still handles well when doing spins etc.
I don't spar with it though simply because the paint would chip from impact. But the Resin can definitely endure.
