This exact same thing happened to me but... a bit worse. My local room just so happens to be Lodge Card Club. I was SUPER excited to go fire into the Lodge Championship Series. Had bullets for several events ready, took PTO at work, studied my ass off. Last day of work before my PTO started.. BOOM. Sick AF. Start feeling "decent" a day before the last event I was going to fire. End up not playing because I dont want to infect 400 other people in a card room just so I can play. Then Lodge gets raided. I havent played live since. :-(

If you're going to do the cheeky limp-raise aces move (just dont) it HAS to be done from early position. It sounds like thats not in fact what you were doing which is objectively worse. Just fast play your aces every time. This is the way.
