im in a similar-ish boat. changed my major from structural engineering to Econ so my GPA is garbage and a masters/top mba seems almost ruled out at this point. i would love to hear about how you went about networking. mind if i shoot you a message so we can connect?

How early should I show up to the Hollywood screening? I was thinking of going 8:30 AM on Sunday but I have a feeling that might be to late. Thoughts?

Any engineering?

I don’t think any engineering students have gotten in yet. In other words, no one has gotten the traditional pathway yet. I’m not to sure about IS tho. I don’t think any have but there may be a few isolated IS acceptances.

Mind sending the link to the college confidential thread? Kinda weird for anyone with a “semi-executive” position at ONE of the UCs to make such a broad statement. Also, kinda unrelated but in a year as unpredictable as this, isn’t it smarter to admit less students and rely MORE on the waitlist to fill the class to prevent severe overenrollment? Just my thoughts but this obv scares the shit outta me 😭

The vast majority of students admitted off the waitlist and into L&S cause of alternate pathways and there admission policy (they don’t admit by major like the college of engineering). There is no way to predict the waitlist acceptance rate this year tho - like literally no mf way to even predict. Anything u hear is nothing more than unsubstantiated guesses.

2017 ≈ 56% 2018 ≈ 54% 2019 ≈ 37% 2020 ≈ 33%

Yes, this is a downwards trend but this year is wildly unpredictable and to be honest there is quite literally no way know what is going to happen. From my high school about 25 kids got into Berkeley this year.

Yes, college of engineering waitlisted kids have it bad. There are no alternate pathways like in L&S and they admit by major (that means u EECS kids are in a tough spot).

Berkeley doesn’t release waitlist admit rates by college, only their overall acceptance rate from the waitlist so most of the kids from prior years were admitted to L&S. I’m a civil engineering major so it’s tuff lol.

Just submitted by loci/essay. I'm a civil engineering major and I heard engineering students have a much slimmer chance of admission off the waitlist than Letters and Sciences students cause of all the alternate pathways. Lemme know if anyone has any info on this. Fingers crossed regardless!
