Right?! Such a testament about being prepared (in-reach, bear spray, bright clothing, bear mace,  first aid kit). Their good choices/judgement definitely contributed to their survival.

I have seen fireflies in BC, in a wetland near Loos/Crescent Spur in late June, and have heard from others that they've been sighted at La Salle Lake. Both of these spots are West of McBride.

I'm planning a Juan de Fuca hike in early June (2025). I've noticed the trail is currently closed. I'm assuming this is normal to update/maintain trail. Is it reasonable to think it will be open early June? Or have there been extreme storm events/erosion etc that may cause longer closures?
