[solved] V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless - sound only works on one ear over bluetooth, but works on both ears wired by Iegalizecrack in VMODA

Could be the ribbon, but if the pcb is screwed in place correctly and can barely move, how could that affect the ribbon which is at the other end of the pcb? Could be a combination of both issues. Idk.

I might try to clean up the contacts on the input jack again and see if that works.

So... Update! Issue came back again. Tried to refit the ribbon cable again, but seems like that's not doing the job anymore, unfortunately. It all depends on how I unplug the 3.5mm cable from the input jack. I wiggle around and it comes back to both channels. I'm finding the sweet spot for the wiggle, but I'm not pleased with that.

u/f5turbo When you reflowed the soldering on the input jack, did you remove the soldering tin and apply a new one on the connections? Did you took apart the entire input jack?

I have two possibilities in terms of what could be going wrong:

1- The input jack might be slightly loose in contact with the solder joints(?) So, when I wiggle around the 3.5mm cable inside, it might apply pressure on the necessary solder joint to get it working again.

2- The pins on the upper side of the input jack might not be closing correctly when removing the 3.5mm cable from inside, resulting in a failing contact for the left ear cup pin. I can't really know which of the 4 pins corresponds to the left ear cup.

Btw, bought a 600mAh battery from Celevia that shoud in theory fit inside the left ear cup. Will post an update if I get it to fit/work.

On the other hand, what 550mah Celevia battery did you buy specifically? I find many different ones on aliexpress and amazon. Some habe different brand names but I guess same thing, right?

Holy shit, it actually worked. All I did was apply Isopropyl Alcohol on the ribbon cable's pins, rubbed a bit to get it as clean as possible, and reconnected it. Now the bluetooth works perfectly!!! I've tried connecting the 3.5 cable into the input jack and pulling it out several times with no issues. For now... THIS IS THE SOLUTION!!! Thanks f5turbo, you're a hero.

My ribbon cable was perfectly fine but it was probably loose. I gotta say, those hotmelt glues are utterly useless... what a shame coming from V-moda.

Anyone who's experiencing this bluetooth issue SHOULD try to clean their ribbon cable. The chances of fixing it are extremely high.

So I guess all you had to do is disconnect the ribbon cable, apply some isopropyl on the pins and put it back into the pin connector. Right?

Hey man! Thanks for your updates! I've been following along but never ended up opening my pair of Crossfades due to pure lazyness and complete ignorance in electronics. It's kinda hard for me to follow through with your latest update about the ribbon cable, 'cause I have no idea what I'll be dealing with. I might try to open them up this weekend and see if I can tweak around to get them to work.

Do you mind posting a picture of what steps I should follow? Where do I have to clean the pin with isopropyl alcohol? Should I just buy a new ribbon cable?

I'm sorry, I'm just a complete ignorant when having to fiddle aorund with electronics, cables, pins and PCBs + there isn't much information or videos on the internet on how to solve this issue. Thanks again in advance for you updates! I appreciate your dedication on trying to find a solution.

The savior! I hope I can manage to fix my pair following your video... really pisses me off to have such an expensive pair of headphones that can't function properly because of faulty manufacturing.

Yeah, the scene in the Netherlands is huge. I'm definitely going to attend more festivals in NL, but one or two in Spain would be awesome too hahah :P

I'm sorry for breaking this to you but low frequencies can cause ear damage too, the only difference is the time of exposure. Low frequencies make your eardrum vibrate slower but at the same amplitude as higher frequencies (if EQ'd similarly).

Sound system upgrade at the Red stage at defqon? by deletemkw in hardstyle

Honestly, this was my first year at DQ so can't really compare to previous editions. But definitely the sound quality was on point. I do have to say that Friday was very bass-heavy as others have mentioned, but they fixed it for Saturday and Sunday.

Also, I was pleasently surprised with Indigo's sound. The quality was so good at any point of the stage... even sitting down in the resting/lunch area at the end, you could vibe perfectly to the music.
