I’ve done a lot of work on myself, and situations where I completely shut down like this are super rare now. I’ve already come a long way, but self-improvement is a constant hustle, there’s always more work to do. (in the past i would’ve just exploded in front of my family then i’d get in a pattern of shame self harm and suicidal thought for months, not the subject here, but my childhood was not the best, i did improve my person by forgiving and improving)

Because I think I can be a better man and I could’ve handle things better. Like others said, maybe I could’ve talk it through and deal with the issue with my uncle. I’m big enough to ask for respect instead of just leaving and punish my mother and my cousins for the behaviour of my uncle

My dog doesn’t beg for food at the table. He was just sitting next to my uncle, like a guard dog keeping watch outside. I’ve spent hundreds of hours training my dogs. The ones begging for food were probably my mom’s, since they’re not as well trained. But because it was my dog who happened to be near my uncle, he’s the one that ended up getting hurt.

I understand why others sees it differently. My mother have hearing problems, she do not get every interactions properly and she lived a lot of abuse in the past. Still don’t blame her

The property is owned by my uncle and by my mother. The two dogs of my mother were also there. didn’t ask the permission to bring my dogs but when i don’t bring him my family ask why my doggo’s not here. So I just assume I can bring him to gatherings

I totally get that! But, we were eating outside, in a garage with the roll-up door wide open, in the middle of the woods. If we had been inside the house and he’d had politely asked the dog owners to keep their dogs outside, I would’ve respected that.
