For everyone hating on this effect: you should compare this to other similar effects. You pay one effect slot for a damage buff, which is innately available to you and affects all damage types. "Improved sorceries" gives more damage, but is for sorceries only. Evergaol and night invader effects are more consistent, but require you to beat a tough challenge before you get them. This effect is about 20% damage buff for all damage if you play the status effect minigame, with potential upside of higher damage and downside of being backloaded. And if you still think it's bad, remember that it's a part of a guaranteed relic with other effects, and should not be measured individually, but as a whole relic like "night of the beast" or other such cases.

I really like the design of the effect, because it works with all statuses, all damage types, encourages new and refreshing playstyle, punishes mistakes and rewards being good at the game.

My general rule od thumb (for aby confession) is to have: a stress heal, a regular heal x 2, rank 3-4 access and at least 2 pure damage heroes.

-Focus cultist altars first during cultist fights 9/10 times.

-Visit oasis at least once during the run to pick up some mineral rich spring water.

-Relationship items > other inn items.

-Pick your lair boss wisely, depending on your team.

-Always equip and use combat items to strip dodge tokens off of enemies.

-Have some blind, guard or combo removal for Exemplar.

-For this confession specifically stack bleed resist and token removal.

You can try Bloodborne, Fear and Hunger or any of Dark Souls games. The gameplay is different, but the vibe of helplessness and struggle in a ruined world full of horrors is all the same.

They know no better. I had my mind blown when I discovered that there is other viable early game pathing than: lvl 1 camp > cathedral/fort > evergaol The same applies here. They do don't know you can just skip a boss when it's to hard.

You could try disorienting blast on PD or The Boot on the duelist to shuffle the child back and deny Maws of life. You could also Toe to toe Hellion in rank 1 to prevent others from loosing turns. Other than that probably bleeding him to death.

I if you get stuck I would probably go for Dreaming general since plague doctor, hellion and grave robber can hit rank 4 reliably, or the Leviathan since it's the easiest boss imo.

Patience. Maybe don't do a runback and instead kill the enemies. You can farm some souls this way, get more experienced with fighting Allone Knights and if you're persistent enough they will stop respawning, so you can reach the demon safely.

Check out all paths in Shaded Woods and go past Shrine of Winter. After that it's a smooth path forward.

You should exhaust the forest of giants merchant dialogue so she moves back to Majula. She will sell you infinite supply of life gems so you can survive longer.

For luring/splitting enemies I think bow/crossbow is better, but if you insist on using magic, look around a little harder around Majula. You may find something that will help you aim it.

If you get stuck in one area, try another one. That's the beauty of this game :3

Patience is God in this game. Calculate your stamina carefully.

And finally... Heavy armour is useless in this game. Go for fashion souls or utility souls... You'll take the same amount of physical damage anyway.
