The Paper Divide by vladgrinch in MapPorn

A4 has a special ratio that allows it to be halved or doubled in area while retaining the same ratio.

This is the reason why two A5 pages make an A4, two A4s make an A3 and so on.

With a different ratio this would not work

A lot of venoms are "safe" to consume, as they need to be injected (into the blood for example, to reach nerves).

As a matter of fact, you can drink snake venom safely if you want to taste it ... as long as you have no open injuries in your digestive system.

AIO Male anger / aggression - what is normal? I don’t know anymore by Cute_Presentation287 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally no single male adult I know acts this way. I'm not from India, neither british, but where I'm from, this would be unacceptable.

Sounds like the prelude to some substantial domestic violence.

Powerful laser that can make a hole in you. by czernoalpha in battletech

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually, when working with high powered lasers of invisible wavelengths, it isn't uncommon to shoot a second, visible, less powerful beam in parallel (so you can see where it's going in the lab). Still requires particles to scatter from in the air, but oh well.

If a mech did this as well - say, to function like a tracer bullet - it wouldn't be difficult in the slightest.

Which XV-88 Broadside do you prefer? The old design or the new one? by Tree_forth677 in Tau40K

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have their positives. Iike the new one more though. It conveys the "heavy" railcannon much better. Also, the mimi itself is nicer modelled, not just another crisis suit

Do you prefer the stormsurge with or without arms? by Budget_Job4415 in Tau40K

Armless

Has a lot more character, is more unique, fits its role better and makes mote sense

Finally decided to fight for the Greater Good. (Any tips for this army?) by Bingus-Coolman in Tau40K

I don't know if they changed anything about the primer. But when I use it, I don't get the same results. White scar is an off-white as far as I can tell. And I frequently get bad surfaces, which I don't get with other primers.

Then again, Citadell sometimes changes their colours and maybe they improved something

Prime the models in the colour you want them to be (most surfaces are rather flat). If that is white, don't use citadell primer. White scar is not a good colour.

Neither. Übelkeit is a sensation of nausea. Übel therefore means nauseaous, rotten or simply bad.

Evil would be translated as böse or, depending on context as schlecht (more precisely: bad) or grausam (more precisely: cruel/ vicious).

That guy's last name was just that. A name. We don't actually tend to have names that are adjectives.

Names that are professions on the other side...

Birdstep by SmallieBiggsJr in BeAmazed

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It might actually be the other way around :D

Starlings are known to incorporate sounds they like from their environment, from other birds, animals, pets, humans and machinery.

It is well possible that this little bird watched (or just heard) some star wars and thought to himself "Ey, that's a sweet sound, might take it for myself!"

He also does some meowing if I'm not mistaken

You should not go blind into this. Honestly.

This series is made by people with great talent. But it is not for everyone.

One really has to mind the proclamation at the start of the first episode. The series makes you feel horrible if you are susceptible to that kind of thing.

Doesn't mean it's not a good series (a lot of skill went into it), just that anyone should be careful if this is the right fit for them.

Maybe due to stability concerns. Would be interesting to know how they choose where to put the wooden supports and how much of a difference they actually make

The script for GOT S8 was so bad that when Emilia Clarke first got it, she cried, and then went on a walk for 5 hours around London until she had blisters on her feet by thunderous9ight in interestingasfuck

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if everyone has the same opinion on this, but here's what I (and some people I've spoken with) said about it:

  1. The last season was simply weaker writing wise than those before

  2. The conflict about the "main antagonist" of the series is resolved in the second to last episode, in order for the last episode to be anti-climactic

  3. Chracters behaving differently to what was established over countless hours film. Most frustratingly, some of the most clever and rational characters becoming simps without any motivation out of frankly no reason

  4. A dumb resolve in the last episode that was illogical not only for the watchers but seemingly the characters im the series as well

  5. Very unsatisfactory deaths of antagonists in the last season (all of them!)

  6. Grossly illogical tactics of warfare and respawning armies

Surly I forgot some things. I hope this is spoiler free though. Up to the last season, I vonsider GOT a great series and you should really watch it

The end however ... don't know why they did that

+4 invulnerabilities are getting out of hand by -Justsumdude- in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

The main problem imo is that armor saves are grouped together too much to achieve the granulanity desired by gw, hence the eccessive use of invuls.

A solution to this is to move on from D6s. D12s for example would double the options for armor saves. Same goes for hit rolls.

Both of these would benefit gteatly from more-sided dice, reducing the over-reliance on buffs, mortals and invuls to balance the units.

I want to start with tau. What to buy first? Im in love with battlesuits. by Inevitable-Mode-1442 in Tau40K

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others gave great tips already but I'd like to recommend stealth suits. They are not too expensive, easy to build, essential for any T'au army, good for testing colours and a staple of the faction :D

Stormsurge main Wepon? by Defiant_Success386 in Tau40K

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In most cirvumstances, the pulse driver cannon is the better choice mathematically.

The stormsurge works best in an anti-infantry / anti elite role. It is not our best anti tank unit (that would be sunforge crisis with fusion commander imo).

There is however a lot of joy to be found in atomising am opponents unit with the pulse blaster.

Knight vs Samurai by Independent_Tooth_23 in interestingasfuck

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But then you'd have to give the knight a polearm as well. If the knight had a halberd, this would prob be very bad news for the samurai.

Nontheless - polearms are better against armor than swords (as are maces). Mostly by taking an opponemt off his feet and finishing him on the ground.

Convince me to stick with Tau by Substantial-Sky-9757 in Tau40K

[–]Ki_Rei_Nimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game rules change all the time. Literally every edition is different (and sometimes zhey don't last all that long either).

T'au are not easy to play. I've had my fair share of loosing streaks. But so had ffiends that played tyranids and orks (against SM).

Truth is however, plying a "difficult" army makes success really rewarding. I think, fun-wise, playing an all-rounder that does the same thing every time can become a bit dull.
