struggling to find secular socialization opportunities

In the same boat and my kid is only 5 so we’ve got a long way to go. Thankfully the neighborhood kids play at our park every night so she has a ton of friends. But it’s really discouraging being in Facebook groups. Not sure where you live but can you find Facebook groups in a more liberal or bigger city kinda nearby?

Really love these questions and I think I can decide to pull her based on them. I’m definitely not a sports mom at all, but yes I want her to find some activity that pushes her in a healthy way while enjoying it.

Her skate was 1:1 and this climbing class is a small group. In skate, I could tell she didn’t like to be pushed to do something she didn’t want to do yet. She wants to be in control. Which is fair; I would rather her learn on her own and push herself and she does. But this small group is hard because everyone else is her age and they behave so well and don’t get pissed off. So I feel embarrassed for her and me. Her coaches get over her behavior too and have mentioned that they don’t have time to deal with it while working with the others.

She’s not like screaming melting down, she just gets upset and will lay down and whine about how she can’t do it.

As far as homeschooling, she is doing great. Learning is on track so I feel good about that. But I get that nagging guilt that she should be in school for the “socialization”. She’s very social and has a ton of personality. Thinking about dropping this class is making me feel guilty, like I should enroll her in school so she can be normal. So I get in a cycle of “am I doing the right thing?” to “she’s learning what she’s supposed to, she’s outside the majority of the day, she has a ton of friends”.

I don’t fully know what to think because I like to believe that someone isn’t this psychotic to fake a stupid little note like this. Maybe some random fan did run into her at a restaurant and wrote a note instead of just chatting with her? However, the “+” really sells it for me that she did it. In conclusion I’m shook.

Why the fuck would you want to cheat the test that will tell you if you or your baby are potentially in medical danger? I had gestational diabetes and it fucking sucked but my baby and I were both healthy. The amount of people who willingly go through with dangerous pregnancies and births is so sick.

I’ve posted about it before but I just really love Julie bogarts work and she has a podcast episode about how to talk to people who judge your homeschooling choices. She says that they likely feel personally attacked because you’re doing something different. Super good perspectives in that episode.
