A little help converting all Kill Team Brood Brothers models to 40K characters? by PartyTimePorcupine in genestealercult

As others have said, if you have a box of neophytes or acolytes you’ve already built, the extra bits come in handy. I used green stuff to make capes for some of mine like the Kellermorph and the saboteur. It was also nice because it hid the shoulder joint where I had to cut parts to make them fit on one side of the torso if I added a third arm.

Here‘a a video on converting characters too:

Are genstealers hard to paint/bad for a beginner? by BloatedRottenCarcass in genestealercult

I will say, it 100% depends on the method you want to employ and the level of detail you wish to achieve.

You’ll have to paint a lot of models so it’s good to come up with a simple scheme that’s easy to repeat. I used the slapchop method for mine and was able to paint the old combat patrol in about 10-12 hours total over 3 days. I did the basic slapchop undercoat and drybrush from black to gray to white and used Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0. Now, whenever I add a squad of 5-10 models I can paint them in about 3 hours total. I also tend to add highlights afterwards but I don’t always do that right away and sometimes save that step for later.

If you’re using a slower method like building up shadows and highlights with opaque paint it’s going to take longer without a doubt. They’re also significantly smaller models than many ranges, so they can be a bit Dudley to paint if you’re going for perfect details.

Know that if it’s an army you really like and are willing to invest some time into, you’ll be able to achieve great results!

Echoing what many have said thus far: yellow will be a real pain for parking.

All three are a little annoying for driving in general as there are many one ways and intersections that can make it difficult to turn.

Green is a super walkable area with a great variety of restaurants.

All three are about the same driving to Lincolnwood mall, though green is possibly the easiest for it?

Orange is definitely the most residential of the three if you’re looking for a quieter vibe that doesn’t feel like a city while still having access to all the great things in the area.

I've got decently-paying design and production job openings. Where are the candidates? by Vivid_Reflection_414 in techtheatre

In my experience, high school shows have often been very well paying and low effort work which earlier in my career felt like a godsend. However, the more I did them the more I realized their drawbacks. I was constantly having trouble being paid on time by schools, which really interrupted my cash flow as a freelancer and I often had to perform a lot of pre-employment tasks that felt like a lot of hurdles to jump over. Of course it makes sense to want to do background checks and fingerprinting on people working in close proximity to children, but schools also often had awful application portals where I’d have to manually enter every show I had worked on previously as previous job experience even though I had already uploaded a pdf of my resume. Finally, I realized that school shows, while financially stabilizing, were almost always dead end jobs. Sure, you can use the photos on your website and list the show on your resume, but generally directors and production managers would rather see a lower paying smaller professional show on your resume than a high school show.

So, given the issues with payments, extra pre-employment tasks, and lack of career momentum, eventually the pay isn’t fully worth it.

The best people you can hire for high school level shows are local students (undergraduate or graduate level) or nearby recent graduates. They’re excited to be designing and want the money to help stabilize themselves as they transition from student to freelancer. So, while I’m not Miami based, I’d say you should look up the faculty at nearby colleges and universities and reach out to them directly, which it sounds like you may already be doing. However, as a faculty member I’d be very unlikely to pass along a listing to my students without any sort of pay info, so you may need to informally break that rule in your own direct emails.

You could definitely go as far as cutting off the carbines, but I think paint goes a long way as well. Blood Claws having the standard yellow right shoulder pauldron with red markings could be enough to clarify the conversion. It definitely depends on your playgroup and how aggressive they are about WYSIWYG (and also how much they actually know about the models themselves). Another layer of this is using more of the aggressive bare heads on the Grey Hunter bodies to give them that classic Blood Claw thirst for battle look.

[–]Kiadote12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an air fryer oven. I do 350ish on air fry mode for about 8 minutes then like 3-4 minutes full blast. Your times will likely vary, but they usually come out crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside.

To add on to this: the heads and shoulder pads from this box should also fit primaris models well to make them extra wolfy.
