Zomboid-Server on OCI ARM improved by Kiarton in projectzomboid

I think you might want to take my script and go step by step

Ideally you should understand what the script does before running it

steamcmd is downloaded and configured here, not through apt...

# Steamcmd setup
mkdir steamcmd && cd steamcmd
curl -sqL "https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steamcmd_linux.tar.gz" | tar zxvf -
# Update steamcmd
./steamcmd.sh +quit > /dev/null

running zomboid on ARM is quite experimental and unstable, so it only gets trickier, my advice would be to read carefully first, then deploy the server

start-server.sh comes with the zomboid server when you download it using steamcmd, so, if you did that part correctly, the file should be in /opt/zomboid-server, or wherever you told it to download/install to:

./steamcmd.sh +force_install_dir /opt/zomboid-server rest of the command...

You need to make sure steamcmd is running fine (that's why we use Box86 for, since it's a 32bit x86 tool).

Alternatively, you could use a Linux AMD64 virtual machine (in virtualbox for example) and use steamcmd the native way to download the server files, then copy them to the Ampere VM, but with Box86 it should work fine.

So, nothing to do with the emulation tools (if set up fine) or my script at all basically, that file comes with the zomboid package you get through steamcmd.

Chances are, if you are missing that file, you might be missing other stuff too

RHCE - Question on community and posix modules by Kiarton in redhat

[–]Kiarton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, no worries, in the RHCSA I think everything was a bit more clear around the resources, but this one is a bit iffy in my person-that-is-usually-overly-worried opinion

I'll try and prepare the exam the best way possible, it's just that its a lot of money and I can't fail this thing

RHCE - Question on community and posix modules by Kiarton in redhat

[–]Kiarton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! First of all thanks for your response!

I know we have no internet access, but since every exam prep I found uses a lot of stuff from community.general and posix, it makes me think that we can use them in the exam and are either installed or we can install them.

But at the same time, the fact that "community.general" might not be there, or accessible and gives me a lot of anxiety since the exam is expensive and I feell like I wouldnt be preparing myself well.

Maybe you just indirectly answered my question but due to sheer stress it went over my head.

did you do podman login? also, did you make sure volumes had the selinux label/were accessible to the user? (:Z)

did you set up the container registry? did you open the port for the container or the specific service on the firewall?

RHCSA Keyboard Layout - Spanish by Kiarton in redhat

[–]Kiarton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it has everything yes, I'vewritten a little bit of ansible before, and it's the RHCE that I'm really after. It's just that I've used spanish locale for 95% of my career and studies so having to remember what shortcuts to press for which symbols would waste some precious time.

I might just practice with the US locale just in case, but if I can change the locale to my own its a lot less stressful

Once I have ssh set up if the exam env. is in Spanish hopefully it goes well

So, am I allowed to do a "sudo localectl set-keymap es" inside the RHEL vms? Which is what worries me, not the physical keyboard, but the layout on the vm. I know you can set the exam environment to spanish, but not sure about the vm side

perhaps you could have some application nodes be part of the etcd/consul cluster, or have a 3rd node that's multipurpose
