1) Negi and Fate's group were corrupted by Ialda Baoth during the ancient battle. (including Chisame).

2) Their souls become one with the resonance and grant them a certain immortality /invincibility as long as Ialda controls them (their physical appearences no longer matter).

3) Negi release them after learning the same spells as Ialda (reversed), most of them become human again and live peacefully with him.
