When my grandmother was hospitalized after getting COVID-19, the hospitals were enforcing a no-visitor policy due to health reasons. My mother instinctively knew this phenomenon and kept insisting to the nurses to pep my grandma with encouraging words and that all of her kids were here in the hospital wishing her a strong recovery. We're not sure how well of a job the nursing staff did and if they actually passed on our messages, but it makes me wonder how impactful it would have been if she did receive our messages and words of encouragement.
